23  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Slightly Slouchy Leg Warmers on: January 16, 2007 08:17:33 PM
Okay! So, I wanted to knit myself a pair of legwarmers. I made Knitty's Postmodern Legwarmers last year, but they were just too chunky for me, and I didn't quite like how they looked on me. (But don't get me wrong, the pattern is great! They just don't suit my legs well.)

I haven't found another pattern, knit or crochet, that I liked. They are all too.. fitted. Or I don't like the style.  Then I saw the most perfect legwarmers on a mannequin in a store the other day. Black with colored stripes, wide, with the perfect amount of slouch to them - but they were for display only.

So, forever legwarmer-less I thought I was.

Until I pulled out some leftover yarn from my stash.  I had some Lion Brand Wool-Ease in various colors leftover from crocheting amigurumi and knitting Knucks over the holidays.  I started these legwarmers a few times (and ripped the out), trying to decide just how wide to make them, and I ended up with....

... this! A single legwarmer - still a WIP, since I have to knit up the one for the other leg now. But I love how it turned out.  I'm probably going to knit another pair that's longer (slightly wider maybe? for more slouch), but since I was just working with leftover yarn, I settled for this shorter length.

I jotted down everything I did as I went along so I can make the other leg identical, so here's the pattern below if you want to make your own.  I have skinny legs, and I don't know if we all knit with the same tension, so you may want to just knit a few rows at a time and try it on your own leg to see how you like it.  You may or may not need to make adjustments:

Thanks, miss_joy!

Yeah, the USC flags are because those two bunnies are going to my boyfriend's oldest brother and his wife, who he said "go crazy over anything with USC". Smiley

Thank you!

miss_joy: I was able to find some in the bear/doll section at Jo-ann's Fabric store. There are online sources, but I can't remember any off the top of my head though.

This apron is way cute!

Did you need to make any modifications to the pattern? Was it easy to work from?

Thank you!  I am so excited about embroidering now.  @_@  I bought a pack of dishcloths for only $1.99 and have a lot of solid-colored shirts that I might put something on.  Yayyyy.
