3  Chinese Dragon Vase in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by pink_pamplemousse on: June 24, 2010 08:30:02 PM
This piece is a collaboration between me and my ceramics teacher. I told him what kind of vase I would like, and he did a wonderful job throwing it on the wheel. Then I sculpted the dragon and glazed it with low fire glazes.

4  Vegetarian BLT with avocado and spicy mayo in Recipes and Cooking Tips by pink_pamplemousse on: June 23, 2010 12:09:59 PM
This is my new favorite sandwich!

If it where up to me I would make it using real bacon, but since I live in a kosher household I have to stick to the vegetarian version. But it's still amazingly delicious.

The secret to this sandwich is the spicy mayo, more specifically, the Sriracha sauce.

You can find this hot sauce at any well stocked grocery store, probably in the Asian foods section. Just mix it in with the mayo until you're happy with the spiciness level.

The other steps in the sandwich making process are pretty obvious.

Toast bread-  I used a bulkie roll
Saut bacon/veggie bacon in frying pan
spread spicy mayo on bread
put on avocado, tomatoes ( I recommend cherry tomatoes), lettuce, and bacon
enjoy!

5  Wheel stuff and Giraffe Cup in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by pink_pamplemousse on: June 19, 2010 12:07:51 PM

vase glazed with Tenmoku

and last but not least, the giraffe cup! This piece is more decorative than functional since if you try to drink from it the horns will go into your eye.  Grin

6  Alien Head in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by pink_pamplemousse on: June 19, 2010 11:59:59 AM
I didn't plan on this being an alien, but that's what it looks like. I achieved the pattern by first glazing it with white low fire glaze and then once it was fired I dunked it in blue high fire glaze. I then lightly rinsed off the high fire glaze so that it only stuck in between the cracks that form in the low fire glaze.

7  Cracked Crocodile in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by pink_pamplemousse on: June 19, 2010 11:49:43 AM

I originally sculpted this crocodile with its mouth open; it looked pretty awesome. But then tragedy struck. While it was being bisque fired the mouth collapsed and then got stuck in a closed position. I was sad, but decided to glaze it anyways. I was happy with how the glaze turned out and my teacher put it on display. Then a second tragedy struck. Someone touched it and the already fragile crocodile mouth collapsed a little more. This cracked some of the top and left little pieces of unglazed clay exposed. So I did my best to epoxy it back together, and that's what you see here. I'm still pretty happy with it, but it could have been GLORIOUS had the mouth stayed open. C'est la vie.

and here are the scales that I meticulously put on one by one. It took forever, but I think it was worth it.

8  Re: Friendship Bracelet Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by pink_pamplemousse on: April 21, 2010 01:31:57 PM

I got three amazing bracelets!

The large one is from hbrady99. The white, purple, and green one is from ENGRbyDAY. And the third one is from t33ng1rlsqu4d.

This was my first swap and I'll definitely be participating in future ones, it was a lot of fun.

9  Recent Stuff in Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects by pink_pamplemousse on: February 27, 2010 03:24:49 PM

this was inspired by those ancient Egyptian canopic jars where they would put mummified body parts.

Here is a donut teapot made on the potters wheel.

And here is a vase made on the wheel. I got the crackle effect by using low fire and high fire glazes.
