1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / New Stuff-TONS of pics on: May 20, 2011 10:59:35 AM
I've been busy!

this is one of my favorites...agate & steel. I wear this A LOT

this is my absolute favorite...copper & cubic zirconia. soooo shiny

another favorite! so dainty with tiny freshwater pearls

my favorite earrings...I made several pairs of these & they tickle my shoulders. LOVE them!

another favorite...I love amber, but it's cost prohibitive for me. so I found these amber glass drops at Hobby Lobby forever ago & they've found a home!

these are fun!

2  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / first knitting project! Dottie Wrap on: October 06, 2010 07:33:18 PM
Sooo, no this isn't me...

It's the Louisa Harding "Dottie Wrap" from Knitting Little Luxuries.

Here's my version:

I went easy on the buttons & eliminated the blanket stitch on the edges & the patterned stockinette stitch. This was my first project, so I wanted something easy to remember.

after 2 failed hat projects & a few small washcloths, I really have confidence to try some new things! I'm going to make this again, in browns this time, using better yarn (this was 100% acrylic) and making it a little larger (those patterns are all for itty bitty people!!).

IGNORE THE FACE! and the hat's not mine...just had a super bad hair day.

4  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Hair flowers on: April 17, 2010 07:29:09 PM
I made these last night, trying to pare down a HUGE fabric stash (I've kind of been on sewing strike because I don't really like it & it stresses me out!). The big white one is about 4" across, and is made with alternating fabrics (shimmery gauze, crushed velvet & a white broadcloth). The little one is about an inch & 1/2, made with cotton gingham prints. I made 2 of the little ones for my daughter & the big one's for me.

I cut various sized circles, alternated the fabric and then singed the edges with a lighter. It smelled horrible & was really smoky, but I love the end result. thanks for looking!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Harry's Memory Trunk (pic massive) on: March 22, 2010 06:07:07 PM
Im imagining Hogwarts in the future. Ron & Hermiones granddaughter Peony is Headmistress, and Harrys grandson James III has only recently been released from Azkaban (for what we dont know).

All we know is that there has been a love affair between Peony and James III, and while one she risen to the top of her profession, he has fallen from the grace of his legacy (presumably  because he couldnt handle the pressures of the Potter name). Peony has found this trunk in a Hogwarts attic, and she hopes it will bring James back to his senses and prompt him to realize his birthright as the progeny of a great Wizarding family.

Here is the trunk she sent:

She sends the trunk by owl to James who is currently residing at the Bainbridge Home for the Temporarily Indigent in London

Hogwarts Crest & outside of "leather" trunk

And...everything comes out!

Included are:
-a "patronus" poster, Harry's first invitation to Hogwarts school, a white feather in memory of Hedwig, a framed picture of Ginny Weasley, an invitation to a memorial service for Dumbledore; all taped, nailed or glued to the front door
-a pensieve, with memory intact (fimo)

better shot of the "architecture"

-a Nimbus 2000, (yes, I know it was destroyed in the book...I'm thinking it was reconstructed for Harry as a decorative gift, never to have magical properties again)
-a Sorting Hat (the only other one in existence) (fimo)

-a small urn filled with floo powder

-a prophecy, a snitch, Harry's first wand box, a Phoenix feather, and a Sorcerer's Stone

-a Basilisk fang (Fimo) and two books

-3 potions: Amortentia, Draught of the Living Death, Felix Felicis; one memory, Harry Potter; and dried gillyweed

This was for my partner in the OTHPT swap, Pinkleo....comments & criticisms welcomed!

EDIT: there are some fairly large plot holes in my story, the largest that has been pointed out to me is that Peony & James III would be related. OOOPS! anyway, that whole issue is covered as well as lots of other cool HP mini things on the OTHPT board...http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=340280.0

8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / A few xmas gifts on: December 28, 2009 12:34:48 PM
Here are a few of my easier to make xmas gifts this year. They were basically easy gifts for teachers and neighbors.

These candles were super easy...one has brads and gold tape, the other is just filled with pushpins and beads. wrapped together with another, plain candle, these made a pretty grouping. I did have to warn the recipient that the little brads & pins would fall off during melting.

this is organic simmering potpourri. I peeled & dried organic oranges, added spices (clove & cinnamon) and jarred them with a pretty scrap of fabric. I also added a ribbon prior to giving. Instructions are to fill a small pot with water, add potpourri and simmer as long as desired. It's only a 2 use (max) potpourri because there are no preservatives. It's a long-lasting smell though, everyone loved it at my house.
9  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Ornaments on: December 28, 2009 12:26:41 PM
So, thought I'd make more ornaments this year...they're going into storage so I'll have to cover them in Triple Thick next year so they'll be nice & shiny. I got a lot of ideas from the Alpha Stamps website & used their winter images for a few.

my favorite...love the colors & the beads

c+c helpful....
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / some new jewelry, pic heavy on: December 05, 2009 04:02:31 PM
I've made several of each of these, some for xmas gifts for family & friends and some for the etsy I just opened. This is the first time I've done anything of this scale, and I'm really happy with how most of the things came out. I'd love to hear everyone's take on them! thanks!!

this is a hemp fiber & natural stones necklace...I'm thinking of it for my friend who has a pretty crazy personality

wire wrapped beads, copper & leather necklace. if this one doesn't sell on etsy...it's mine!

a crazy cluster bracelet...going to the woman that modeled it in the pic

simple flower, going to my sister-in-law

and this one is mine...I made myself an xmas gift. kind of cheesy I know, but oh well.

c+c totally welcomed...I'm looking for ways to make this stuff better!
