Here are some origami stars that I made.



Some people call them lucky stars or wishing stars... I like to call them puffy (p.diddy) stars.... crickets chirping... The tradition is that you fill up a jar with these and give them to someone you like.  Some people also say that if you make a 1000 of these, you'll be granted a wish (kinda like those pesky paper cranes).

You need a long strip of paper to make them so I cut pieces of left over scrapbooking paper and magazines.  If you're interested in learning, you can find a tutorial here.

I wanted to get a dress form for my fiance as a Christmas present.  I asked a friend who is a seamstress and used to teach classes for advice on how to buy one.  She suggested that I give my fiance some kind of IOU on Christmas day, and then take her shopping since there are so many different options to consider.  This made sense to me, so I made this little paper dress and put it on a toothpick stand. 


In this picture it's sitting on top of the box I put it in.  It's basically the origami box that I shared in another craftster post minus the lotus flower.

Here are a few ornaments that I made.  I call them ornaments, but you can hang them as decorations any time of year.

The red & white ring and the blue & white 8 point star are actually the same fold (they can transform!)  *I just posted a video of how to make the 8 point stars on my website*


Paper balloons of various sizes...  It was tricky installing the paperclip loop on these... they're so delicate.

That is the greatest and best mushroom in the world!  I lurve the gills!  It reminds me of my very first crocheting...


I made this hat for my one of my nieces.  Her name is Isabella, so of course we started calling her Portabella.

hmmm... I know how to make a few different origami flowers... but nothing that opens when you squeeze it...  I did just post this lotus flower to the forum. 

There's a bit of space in the center for you to place objects; however, it doesn't really close and open.  If you like it, there is an instructional video on my blog.  Depending on the size of the object you want to place in the flower, you might need to start with larger sheets of paper.

Here's an origami box that I made out of two different sheets of 12x12 inch scrapbook paper... after all was said and folded, the box was 6x3x3 inches. 


Then I made a little origami lotus flower out of six different sheets of 4x7 origami paper (I had to cut a square sheet).


Then I figured... why not stick the flower on the box... I had to reinforce the lid from behind with a piece of card stock, and I used a yellow pipe cleaner as a twist-tie to secure the flower to the lid.  This made the lid a little heavy so I used a piece of clear packing tape to secure the lid to the box bottom (usually the lid slides under flaps on the box, and that's good enough to hold them together). 


Here's the box when opened.  You can see the piece of card stock as reinforcement (do I get points for trying to match the color of the card stock to the colors of the box?). 

It's hard to see in the picture, but I put some foam-like "premium densified batting," into the bottom of the box to give it a little more structural support.  This would make a nice little keep-sake chest or a good gift box (one of my fiance's Christmas presents is inside it as I write this).
