1  MineCraft Creeper Coaster in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Craftypunkn on: August 21, 2011 06:04:14 PM
Me and a few of my nerdy guy friends are huge fans of MineCraft. I got bored a few weekends ago and decided to make Creeper Coasters for the guys. (Maybe if they have some cool ones, they will USE THEM while they are in my house!!!) This was so simple to make and took all of 10 minutes, but the guys love them so much they are asking for more of the characters. I think next I will try to create the zombie and pig once I get some more beads on hand.

2  Tawny Scrawny Lion Wall Art in Completed Projects by Craftypunkn on: August 21, 2011 01:45:35 PM
I was rummaging through the aisles of the local Dollar Tree last weekend and came upon these small wooden plaques that hang with a cute little bow. In the past I have made pieces to hang on the wall with cuts of wood, and was dying to do it again.

For this piece I painted the background a dark purple and used Mod Podge to secure an image from The Tawny Scrawny Lion.

The text reads "Home he went, through the soft moonlight, singing softly to himself. Right now the piece is hanging above my bed. Due to it's size it looks kinda funny there because there is such a big open space. I may have to make a few more from other Little Golden Books to complete the look!

Sorry, the pictures are a little fuzzy.

3  MINIONS!!!!!!!! in Dessert by Craftypunkn on: August 08, 2011 07:59:51 PM
A dear friend of mine recently celebrated his 28th birthday. I wanted to make him some super cute cupcakes and ran across the idea of Minions from Despicable Me on line. I gave it a try and they were super tasty and super adorable!

I had a hard time getting the black gel to look descent around the eyes because I messed up the tube as I was cutting it open. I will have to try something a little different next time to make them a bit cleaner.

They are really easy to make. I baked cupcakes and cut a bit off the top to have a nice flat surface. I cut Twinkies in different sizes to get the different sized minions. The eyes are white smarties head on with a bit of icing, and the glasses, hair and mouths were done with black gel icing.

Sorry the pictures are a little fuzzy. I think my hands were shaking from a sugar high.

4  Lyrics stamped pillowcase in CHALLENGE 65 ENTRIES by Craftypunkn on: August 07, 2011 08:04:02 PM
I have been in love with lyrics from "Degausser" by Brand New for awhile and have been wanting to so something with them for my room.  My original plan was to create wall art featuring the lyrics, but my constant need to redecorate my room left me fearful to create a large piece that might not fit in with my theme and mood next month. Once I saw this contest I thought it was now or never for the lyrics to take their place in my room. Since the contest is almost over I made a split decision to stamp them onto a pillow case. I must say this works out perfectly because if I had done something larger, I have a feeling I would have cluttered it up, while this way it is simple and the message is all that is seen!

I am unsure of the font style. I used a set of foam letters purchased at the local craft supply store.

5  My first embroidery project- Hummingbird in Needlework: Completed Projects by Craftypunkn on: August 06, 2011 09:48:53 PM
My grandmother has been very ill lately, so my little sister and I decided to cheer her up with something she loves. HUMMINGBIRDS!!! This was the first time we have ever done embroidery work, but I think they turned out ok and granma loved them. I found the pattern at http://zuill.us/andreablog/2011/04/07/aprils-embroidery-pattern-hummingbird-time/

We mainly stuck with a standard chain stitch, although I did attempt some fill in stitches. Any feedback or tips on how to improve or other stitches to try would be greatly appreciated.
