1  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Completed Projects / Shrinky-dink Pet Tags on: March 29, 2005 11:12:34 PM
I saw a kit at the petstore for about $7 that allowed you to write your pet's info on a plastic tag and then shrink it down...instead I used some clear Shrinky-dink and made one myself. I colored it with colored pencils and wrote the info with a fine-line Sharpie marker, punched a hole for hanging and baked it.Then all I had to do was add a sturdy jump ring and attach to the kitten's collar. It turned out great and so far hasn't faded at all, despite being dragged thru my cat's food and water dish. The fun thing is that you can make any shape and match the color to the collar, etc. Sorry I don't have any pix (can't get the critter to sit still!)...but it's pretty simple. Oh, and I got the shrinky-dink sheets at Hobby Lobby when I worked there (*shudder*), and it wasn't too pricey.
2  Wisconsin / Wisconsin: Southeast / Holiday Gift Expo in Milwaukee!!!! on: December 13, 2004 08:25:26 PM
Just wanted to let everyone know about an event on Dec. 18th...Hide House, an art gallery/studio space is hosting from 2-8pm. It should be cool...heavy on the art & hip crafts (which we all love!)...I'll be there with my jewelry, so stop by! Hide House is on Greeley in BayView, in the valley behind Target...its a huge brick building & hard to miss.
3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Water-proof Beach Jewelry? on: November 18, 2004 08:42:30 PM
I had the idea a while back to make items out of plastic beads on fishing line, so you could wear them in the water and not ruin them. Also, I would have a use for all the plastic beads I accumulate & never have any use for. Then a friend-of-a-friend mentioned she had such a bad metal allergy she couldn't find any jewelry cuz everything had metal clasps. I really want to do something w/ this idea, but I've not seen plastic findings anywhere...any ideas?
4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / baking soda bath bombs? on: November 15, 2004 11:48:59 PM
I need a recipe for "bath bombs"...the kind that fizz when you toss 'em in the tub. I know the main ingredients are baking soda & cocoa butter, but I don't have any more info. I want to make them for Christmas...help!
