1  Re: Tea Towel Tour 3-T3- Rise of the Tourists in The Swap Gallery by bluesparkie on: April 09, 2008 09:43:01 PM
Ezri_B, I love your pinup and I'm totally inspired try shading like that on something, but it would have to be something for myself since I'd be afraid to mess it up...

Here is the design that I ended up putting on UrsulaDiamond's towel, I was inspired by some soap that she had in her wists and didn't really think about the difficulty of embroidering something so complicated and symmetrical.  It ended up a little bit wonky but I'm still pleased with how it turned out.  Sorry for the terrible picture, I was in a hurry to ship it out and didn't realize that it was so out of focus.

I am totally loving our avatars today, I was confused at first thinking there were a bunch of Doogie Howser fans around, but then I caught on (not the brightest crayon in the box sometimes...)

I finished Ezri_B's towel and sent it off yesterday.  I added a little forest scene...

My iron attempted a suicide leap off of my ironing board and is currently in multiple pieces, so I wasn't able to iron it before shipping it off to Sew~Amy, sorry!!

Sorry I'm a little late getting this posted, I was in a rush to get sundayafternoonhous ewife's towel out on Friday and then I was gone all weekend.  I put a little gnome with a cupcake and some mushrooms to add to the forest theme...

Sorry for the crummy camera phone picture, my real camera is out of commission.

I'm totally loving all of the sea creatures on sew~amy's towel and am getting a little anxious about being the last person to embroider it!

I've been totally out of the loop in this gallery but I absolutely love everything that I have seen.  This swap always inspires me to try new things, it's fantastic.

Sew~amy, I absolutely love the mushrooms on my towel, they are so cute, and the snail is awesome!  You're putting me to shame, posting your contribution to cupcakeguru's towel before I even got around to uploading mine!  I also stuck with the tattoo theme and since I've been a little Vegas obsessed lately, here's what I ended up doing:

I can't wait to get my next towel, I'm already plotting what I'm going to do with it...

5  Re: The Art of Makeup in Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions by bluesparkie on: November 04, 2007 11:37:50 AM
So I figured the makeup loving folks on this thread might appreciate my peacock eye makeup...

Not the greatest picture, but I like my makeup.

A different night, I was out at a bar and seemed to misplace my feathery lashes...

Here's a link to my full costume goodness: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=205999.0

Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions for the next time I decide to dress up like a peacock?  Sadly, that isn't really that ridiculous a notion...

I went with a peacock costume this year, and it's probably my favorite costume ever...

7  My peacockalicious costume in Halloween Costumes by bluesparkie on: November 04, 2007 11:27:36 AM
So I've had this dress that got kinda messed up at the dry cleaner's and I was looking for something that I could do with it.  I was originally leaning towards Rainbow Brite but ultimately decided that Peacocks are where it's at.  I did some research and bought 150 peacock feathers online at ostrich.com, then attacked them with my hot glue gun until they made a tail piece and some fine feathery accessories.  Here are the results:

My tailfeathers

This is a better pic of the actual color of the feathers, they're amazing!

A view with the earrings and bracelet that I made

Eye makeup with fabulous feathery lashes

A more bar-friendly tailpiece that I made with leftover feathers so as to not poke out the eyes of everyone around me.

So that's how I spent my halloween, it was a good time and now I have peacock feather wall decorations.  It's a win-win!

I got my apron back today!!!  It is so freakin' fabulous!!  Thank you so much for all of the work that all of you amazing craftsters put into it.  I'm in love and inspired to start doing lots more cooking so that I can wear it.
Here's a kinda crappy action shot, although it doesn't do the amazing embroidery any justice, I'll take a picture with my actual camera this weekend.

Thanks again for my fantastic apron, I am in love!

CupcakeGuru: I LOVE my pinup girl.  That is my favorite needlecrafter.com pattern.  I've used it in its original form to make "cozies" for friends a couple of times.  I'm so excited to get my apron!

Here is what I ended up putting on SlyBetty's apron:

It looked a little bit more retro in pattern form, but I like how it turned out.

I'm totally in love with everything that people have done for this swap.  Awesome job, ladies!  I finished up Fennifer's apron last night but missed the post office today so it'll go out first thing tomorrow.  I also received SlyBetty's apron in the mail yesterday so I'll get stitching on that. I agree, I'm a little sad that it's my last one!

Here's a picture of my section of Fennifer's apron:

Sorry for the blurry picture.  I remembered her posting something about putting the Simpsons on an apron.  Although I wasn't ambitious enough for the whole family, I think there's enough room for Fennifer to put the rest of them in if she wants.
