1  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / Dyeing Cordura? Help please! on: March 23, 2010 03:51:34 PM
Hey all!

I'm new to the art of dyeing fabrics, and my first project is a tricky one. I have a brand new Osprey Aura 65 liter backpack that happens to be bright baby blue. I need the pack to be more camouflage so that I don't have to carry it around with me.

The many two fabrics that it is made out of are 2100D Twill Velocity Cordura and 160D x 210D Window Ripstop Cordura. Can it be dyed without having the color run everywhere when it gets rained on? If so, what do you recommend doing?

Thanks for any advice!
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Pantyliners! on: March 22, 2009 10:27:40 AM
So... I'm an affirmed moon cup user, but well... I needed some back-up.  Wink

So... I adapted the reusable cotton maxi-pad pattern into some reusable cotton pantyliners!
They are tiny (5.5in x 6in) and super thin (four thin layers) and they work like a dream! I left the pocket open, so that toweling can be added, but I highly doubt I'll need that.

Check it out:

As always, C&C appreciated!

Peace be with you.
3  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenge Theme Ideas, Etc. / The Zoo! on: March 17, 2009 08:23:47 AM
What if we had a zoo themed challenge?

Could be anything really, as long as it involves the zoo.

Think... Zoo animals, peanuts and cotton candy, angry zookeepers, whiny children, big sidewalks, tired parents, red flyer wagons.... It goes on forever!

Any thoughts?

4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / A new black clutch... every girl needs one! on: March 14, 2009 12:03:09 PM
This bag was born with a bit of help from my friend Sarah, who wanted to try a new shape of bag. So... we came up with this little guy. It's black cord with vintage lace and vintage pearlized beads.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Headband Extravaganza! (pic HEAVY) on: March 14, 2009 11:56:08 AM
I've been on a headband kick lately... I love these little things! They are sch a great way to use scraps from the stash. They are all made from recycled materials.

This one is patchy with zig-zag detail:

6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Blue Flowers? I guess... on: February 11, 2009 01:26:31 PM
So, this dress started out as the ugliest blue shirt ever. I don't have a before shot, but imagine the biggest blue hawaiian womens shirt ever, with a high, round collar.

Okay... so. I cut the neck into a very deep v, cut the bottom off, too the whole thing in (including the sleeves) and added a wide lace belt. I also changed out the buttons. I'm still not perfectly happy with it, but hey, it's better.

On to the pictures!

Whole dress...

I told you it was low cut!

And the back:

Thanks for looking, c&c appreciated!

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / The Afternoon Picnic Dress. My first thread! on: January 04, 2009 07:52:06 PM
This is my very first dress posted here on craftster and I am super excited about it! I've been making dresses for about a year now, but just discovered craftster this month...

This little picnic dress is made out of vintage cotton that I found outside in a park near my house. The straps are reconned from an old belt I had laying around.

What do you think? I like it...  Wink
