11  Re: Make My Collectible Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by myloveasdeep on: January 10, 2012 04:12:28 PM
I got my package from Makaylalee!

As soon as I opened the first package, I started to cry.

She made me a tiny angel cat that looks like my Bowie. I don't know how to thank you. It hurts so much that he is gone, but it heals me at the same time to see him with wings--I like to think he is a space hovercat now, zooming around the stars...

She also made me a shrine for him:

This is without a doubt the most meaningful swap item I have ever gotten. Swaps are always fun, but I have never had anyone look into my heart and send me something that makes me break down in sad/happy tears every time I look at it. Thank you so much, Makaylalee.

Bowie Starcat, my best friend...I miss you so much.

13  Mittens with a vintage flair in Knitting: Completed Projects by myloveasdeep on: October 29, 2011 02:24:55 PM
I just finished up these mittens, made using this pattern: http://www.bevscountrycottage.com/the-mitts.html

I then embellished them in imitation of the ones on this cover: http://pinterest.com/pin/149252175120400423/

I don't know if I should put that second pompom on there or not...

I received my package form tapestrymlp! It is EXACTLY what I wanted!

Ten retro Christmas cards (four years of marriage and I still have never sent out cards-largely because I never find ones I like). That's a space for a wallet-size photo of us!

A tiny book necklace for my best friend:

Thank you so much!

I received from our lovely organizer!

I got:

An AMAZINGLY well done crocheted monster
The cutest one-eyed keychain ever
An awesome journal with a mustachioed, be-scarfed monster on the cover
A jackalope plaque
a bookmark with my favorite grammar saying: "Let's eat children or let's eat, children-grammar saves lives!" So appropriate for monsters, too.
And some sugar-free monster goo!! =)

I am seriously amazed at the love and care. I will take better pics tomorrow-I left my phone at work and had to borrow my husband's.

I received from jo_mama!

I tell you what. This is probably the most talented package I've ever gotten in 6 years of swapping!

She airbrushed me a t-shrit of the epic battle of squid and whale. It is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT in its smooth detail and gorgeous colors. Seriously. This woman has skills.

I apologize for the lovely background: the kitchen has the best light!

She also sent me roving and some beautiful picture frames.

THANK YOU JO!!!!

I got my package from A2K!

She sent me a really sweet teacher's bag with a semicolon painted on it-I can guarantee no one else has this! =) She also sent three pairs of candy-colored aluminum knitting needles, a really well-made semicolon pencil case, red pens and some markers for my classroom! Thanks so much, you went above and beyond and I am truly grateful!

19  Re: The Megadoily in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by myloveasdeep on: July 31, 2011 01:41:43 PM
I am swatching for one with a huge roll of macrame yarn I found at the thrift and a big blue anonymous hook (no size on it). I'm on round four of a ten round doily and it's 14" across. I think I might need to add more rounds to get it big enough, but here's what it looks like:

I received from Atsuko! She made me a beautiful necklace from a book and a semicolon pendant!

The book necklace gives me such a thrill-I love the few words that make it into each circle. They give the impression that they could tell any story, so it becomes the best story in the world. I'm sure the actual book didn't hold a candle to the mystery of this necklace! A few of the words I saw: light, candle, medical book. Oh yes. Totally my English teacher first day of school necklace.

The semicolon pendant: ah, the semicolon, most graceful and layered of punctuation! It just quietly steps into a sentence and lets everyone know you're an absolute frickin' genius when you use it correctly. No biggie. I'm just the best at grammar. It's cool.

Thank you so much atsuko, you have definitely done a professional and appreciated job!
