1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Get Product and Website Opinions / Yard/Art Sale Pricing problems on: May 16, 2007 08:26:57 PM
If I am not in the right area please let me know, or feel free to delete my post mods. (Sorry if I am!)
Anyway, I'm a hobby artist (If thats even the right word)...I really just draw/paint etc if I have free time and am bored. (My only real talent is photography)
I'm having a yard sale this weekend and am moving in two weekends. In other words everything must go! Looking through my drawers I noticed they are stock full of *ahemcrap* artwork. Everything from acrylic paint to charcoal, grafite to block print. My first thought was to throw it all away. But my boyfriend suggested selling it at the sale. I figure I have nothing to lose by doing so, so I will. My only question is how much do I charge? I literally have a little of everything but nothing is...well...good. (No I don't have pictures of anything, and no I won't take any Tongue)
They range from 3"x5" to 6'x7'
Any suggestions?
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Math motivation for my boyfriend on: May 14, 2007 01:17:01 AM
Ok so here's the deal...
My boyfriend isn't the brightest crayon in the box. He barely passed special ed in high school...But he tries!
He's in (community) college (WITH ME) taking one class a semester-either weilding or automotive. He's AWESOME with his hands. He absolutely loves to learn, just has a hard time grasping things.
So next semester he starts Pre-Algebra. I'm not great at math but I know enough to get by. I've tried tutoring him but I'm not a teacher. I want to make him a gift that will motivate him this semester to work hard and not give up.

Like I said, he likes weilding, automotive, as well as horses and bullriding.

I'm not even sure what I'm looking for but anything helps.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Neon Mod meets Asian Global on: May 13, 2007 05:53:46 PM
The name says it all.
(I have a lack of digital camera right now so I found some objects that are similar in color/texture to what I'm trying to mix together)
So I have this comforter that my mom bought me and was horribly crushed when I didn't LOVE it as much as she did...It's stripped with neon colors: Apple green, Hot pink, Turquoise Blue and Neon orange. It's cute don't get me wrong but now I have to decorate my room around it somehow. Just a basic idea:
(Hah, yes I know its a sweater but please bare with me)

Unfortunately, my decor style is quite...opposite. I have a sort of...asian zen style with a little vintage chic thrown in.
Exhibit A:
Exhibit B:

Ehh, any tips how I am suppose to mix these together without going crazy? Words, pictures and examples are greatly appreciated. Thanks ahead!
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / How do I make these? on: May 07, 2007 01:49:08 PM
I have very low income but would really love to  make something [like] this, possibly using mostly household materials. Any suggestions where to even start?
A Chandelier (just an example not a model)

A frame (again, just an example not model)

Any tips?
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Italian wannabe brother on: November 21, 2005 06:29:08 PM
JP.
But my brother has been living in Italy for the past 6 months and I haven't seen him in 7. I talk to him all the time (We're really close) over the internet but thats it. Anyway, my family is going to visit him over Christmas over in Italy. I want to make him something because I am SOOOOOO incredibly broke right now but I'm not sure what.
He is:
21
'sophisticated'
Been with his gf for 6 months (over sea relationship)
Loves :
soccer and basketball
Old Jazz and classic rock
Architure, art (michelangelo)
Harry Potter (Dumbledore is his hero)
Traveling, reading and music
The Di Vinci Code, don quixote, the illiad, the count of monte cristo, the name of the rose etc

Any ideas?! I need something more...mature? Sophisticated than a Mix CD er whatever.
Plus it has to travel well in a suitcase so also small and unbreakable.
I'm at a complete loss.

Anyone else have brothers who are SUPER sophisticated too?
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / History in a Box on: November 18, 2005 07:24:40 PM
My dad is a MAJOR hisotry buff. No specific time period. He loves EVERYTHING. He has a hundred history books so none of that.
so basically I need ideas for anything history.
Some other UNtraditional ideas:
-Sacramento Kings (California basketball team...)
-Native Americans, He is Indian so a little background (don't know what kind) would be cool
so yea. I got NO ideas. Any help MUCH appreciated.
THank you thank you thank you
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / lyrics...? on: October 03, 2005 06:06:18 PM
Sounds weird....
But I want to do something...unique with my boyfriend's favorite song lyrics.
4 songs.
"The Rodeo"
"Thunder Rolls"
"The Dance"
All by Garth Brooks
"My Last Name" by Dierks Bentley

Weither it be decorate in abook or something, a table, earrings (lol no idea where Im getting this stuff), but seriously. I got 4 pages of lyrics and I want to do something really random, unexpected and unique. Not too cheesy. Yes he is a cowboy, redneck. Romantic when no one is around. Dreams of being a bullrider, love's drawing cartoon characters. Does that help with a random idea?

The ONLY idea I can come up with is a sort scrapbook type thing. You know, just decorate a page with each lyric, but I was kinda hoping for something more unique and maybe even...usefull?
ANyway thanks for any and all help! Smiley
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Double trouble!! on: July 06, 2005 09:16:00 AM
First I have my BEST FRIEND who lives in Japan coming back to visit on the 25th of July. I haven't seen her in over a year.  Cry BUT I have NO idea what to get her when she comes back! Apparently she already has something for me  Shocked

-Extrememly creative (and a perfectionist)
-incredible writer and artist
-loves photography
-loves her boyfriend of..I'm not sure how long now. Over a year and 1/2 though.

I could keep going but I gotta write this fast so I have to stop there, I can come up with more later though.

Anyway, I also got my boyfriends 19th birthday coming up on the 30th of July. When his birthday comes up, it will be just over our one month anniversary so we haven't been going out tooooooo long...

-Cowboy
-hardworking and rich
-loves bullriding
-loves his truck
-hates technology

Mostly what idea's I've gotten for him is a new buckle (he's got 3 trophy ones so that won't work), and a picture of us, except we don't have any.

SOOOO...Any and ALL idea's for both are sooo greatly appreciated! They can be made or bought I don't mind suggestions for both. Thank you again!!
