1  Darkroom Developed Picture in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by rockyturtle on: March 20, 2009 01:42:48 PM
Last year in my photography class, one of our assignments was to go out and find circles.
We wandered around in groups, I found the inspiration, but my classmate wanted to take the picture.
I was the one that got to develop it, and it took many many tries before I got a contrast that i liked.

I can't put my finger on what i love about it so much, i just know that i do  Smiley

(it's much better in full size, but i can't seem to post it without it shrinking  Undecided)

What do you think?

2  Ruby Gloom and Cheshire Cat in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by rockyturtle on: March 20, 2009 01:13:32 PM
I am a terrible artist, I won't lie
I basically only doodle and draw stickmen
Pretty much the only things that I have drawn and loved, I have framed  Tongue
Here are my 2 best drawings (I mean, EVER....sad, i know, but i am happy none the less)

the only picture handy i have of my Ruby Gloom

this one i did for my friend's yearbook
i am a theatre nerd, so i shottied the theatre page not knowing what i was going to do to fit their alice and wonderland theme (i think it's pretty witty Cheesy)

these are NOTHING compared to the stuff that you guys do, but i'm proud anyways
comments are very appreciated!

3  to the bat-egg! in Recipes and Cooking Tips by rockyturtle on: March 20, 2009 12:53:20 PM
no recipe, but food none the less...

At the caf that I worked at, we were all a little batman obsessed
I opened up the shop one morning, and almost everything had the prefix of "bat" written on it with a sharpie....I rung in customers at the bat-cash register, heated up food in the bat-microwave, and made coffee with the bat-espresso maker! And we didn't have dark roast coffee....but dark night coffee

So I naturally had to make some sort of bat-food

cooking it up

finding it's place in a bat-sandwich

and an artsy shot for fun

comments appreciated!

4  Painted Hubcaps in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by rockyturtle on: March 20, 2009 12:42:44 PM
First off, i'm not sure where this goes...
I'm a terrible artist, so this about as artsy as i get

This summer, my sister moved away, and I got her car!!!
Well one thing let to another, and I busted her front hubcap Undecided

I needed to replace her (badly) broken hub, but i didn't want the same old thing
Nor did I want spinners, because that would look terrible on her car...

So I spent waaaaaaay more than need be, got some supplies, and painted away!
She loves dragonflies(and they aren't too hard to draw), so naturally that's what i ended up painting

This took a grand total of a week to do...(nobody told be how LONG it took for oil paint to dry, so most of that was just waiting...and i of course had to do 3 layers on the dragonflies)

Now, no one would be mistaking my car for anyone else's!
(I can honestly say I have never seen anything like this before....so i'm super proud  Grin)

detail shot, which is pretty darn true to it's color

(i'm not bothering to post every wheel, even though each dragonfly was different)

the whole thing

and a super over exposed picture!

comments appreciated!

5  Woven Ribbon Clutch! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by rockyturtle on: March 20, 2009 12:18:57 PM
First post!   Cheesy

So for grad last year (i know, i know....that WAS 10 months ago...) i had a slight dilemma. I wanted all of my accessories to match perfectly, I had 2 out of the 3 already(shoes and earrings...if you're wondering), but i couldn't for the life of me find a bag in the right shade of red.
However, I did find the perfect red ribbon.
What was a craftster to do?
Why make her first ever bag, of course!
I didn't have a tutorial i could understand (so i made it up as i went), i have never used interfacing before, had too many layers of fabric to sew through, and broke a few needles....but i LOVE what came out

what i adore about the fabric is that it invertedly matched my dress....it even felt the same!

(and you know how big guidebooks are...)

action shot!!!

let me know what you think!
