1  Re: Superhero Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by vikingmom on: August 18, 2010 06:24:30 PM
I am finally posting pics. nmcakemom sent me an awesome package. My daughter loves everything. Her fav had to be the Incredibles pillow and blanket set that she snatched up before I could take a picture.

Her incredible shirt with matching Dash ribbon barrettes

Here we have some barrettes, Incedible comic books, a decoupage "J" for my daughters name, some superman hats and tons more. I had an awesome swap partner.

4  More Dresses in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by vikingmom on: June 08, 2010 05:45:41 PM
This is my latest and I think  its my favorite. Its not done yet, it just needs a bow. Its for a client . She needs it for a photo shoot. I know it might seem silly for me to get excited about this, but it makes me smile just to think of my dress in a photo shoot. This design is a little more authentic to the whole rockabilly/1950's style. I love it!!! The other dress is more of a cute little sundress, still totally vintage inspired. Its not quite as spunky as my other dresses. I love the fabric. It was on clearance last year at Walmart for $0.60 a yard. AWESOME!!! I wish that I would have bought more. Now I know that these seem to be the only dresses I make and post, so I will lay off for a little while.

the bodice needs a little tweaking. it comes up higher than the other dresses and it has a small gather in the front.

a twirly shot

Please let me know what you think.
Thanx for looking  Smiley

5  What Serger?? in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by vikingmom on: June 07, 2010 05:53:55 AM

I am currently looking to buy a new serger. The serger that I have is an older one that was a gift, and it just isn't getting the job done the way I would like it to. I can get one in the $200-$250 range and I was wondering if anyone could give any suggestions on a good one in that price range.

6  Re: Punk Baby/Toddler Swap in The Swap Gallery by vikingmom on: June 03, 2010 10:31:04 AM
My package arrived this morning and I love everything. My DD loves her new stuff. She took her clothes that I put on her this morning off and put on her new stuff and refuses to put the other clothes back on.
Ok so here's the pics.

A cupcake and cross bones applique tee, a mom tattoo skort, and a pair of pants with a panda that has a mohawk.

an action shot

she wanted to wear all 3 things at once but its way too hot for that.

close ups

Thanx Sloanlaw!!!

I'm in the process of making something like that today Cheesy might even be finished tomorrow.

Those must not take you long to make now that you made a batch?

edit: LOL just saw your blog post and saw the zebra cake! ahah

8  The Marty Dress in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by vikingmom on: May 13, 2010 03:05:56 PM
My daughters 3rd birthday was Saturday. I let her pick out her own fabric for her birthday dress. While at the fabric store my DD said that she wanted a "Marty" dress. Marty Dress? Then I got it Marty was the zebra in Madagascar. So she had a zebra print rockabilly (of course) dress for her birthday, and I love it. I think I want one for myself.

Sorry about the blurry pics. I couldnt get her to stand still long enough to get a good one.

Please let me know what you think.
Thanx for looking  Smiley

9  I really love these dresses (pic heavy) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by vikingmom on: April 29, 2010 05:03:13 PM
I really love these rockabilly dresses I've been making lately. These ones have got to be some of my favorites. They are super twirly and the shirred back allows for a lot of growing room. The best thing about the dresses is they can be made with just a little over a yard of fabric.

this dress reminds of the flintstones for some reason.

This is my DD's BFF and her pictures turned out really cute

This dress was for a client. I actually made her another almost just like the zebra print one but the skirt was pink.

Please let me know what you think.

10  Easter dress (pic heavy) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by vikingmom on: April 03, 2010 06:59:43 PM
I've been eyeing this beautiful dupioni silk at Hancocks for months. First it made it to the value fabric, then it was 50% off, and then I knew it was time to buy. I knew exactly what I would make with it, the Pumpkins Easter dress. I used the same pattern I made for this dress -> http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=340346.0. I changed the grain of the fabric for the lower part of the bodice on purpose. I like the look.

She's love this hat.

twirly shot.
