You know, I've seen knitting patterns for this exact hat, and was briefly thinking about making it.  But then the thought crept in: Do I really want to put in that much work? 

But lo! You have come up with this wonderful crochet pattern, and it's the perfect solution.  I think I might have to make one of these now.  Smiley
