41  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Tye dye star necklace on: February 25, 2009 10:31:28 AM

This is a necklace I made for my future mother-in-law. It has a magnetic clasp because she has trouble tying things.

This also the first cane I made up myself, with predicable "first timer/I don't want to read directions all the way through" results  Grin.  It was supposed to be  tree surrounded by green swirls. I did not have the proper grasp of caning. I made it to big to start with and ran out of green. Then I used all my yellow up and all of my white.  I think it looks like tye dye and the color are not the ones I would have pick to start with but it turned out nice. I have lots left over so it will be popping up all over the place in future.

Criticism and comments make my craftster day.

42  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Roses, necklace and earrings on: February 23, 2009 09:59:52 PM

I made these a couple weeks ago, it was the second thing I made with polymer clay it is based off of the tutorial http://www.polymerclaycentral.com/rose1.html but I added the stamens for biological reasons.  I love it I wear it almost everyday.

The images turned out oranger than it actually is.

43  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / 1st polymer clay items ever! Hair clip and 2 bracelets on: February 22, 2009 06:31:07 PM
I made the hair clip and the matching bracelet for a swap. I wanted to play with resin but it was to cold to pour it and have ventilation. So I picked up some polymer clay. I am in love. I have made these a while ago but was hiding them so my partern would not see.

Rosy Finch hair clip, photo by fiance

Bracelet made from the same cane as the hair clip, it has some air bubbles in it but is still pretty. I was supposed to be a rose but it came out like this.

Bracelet I made for my sister, 2nd cane I did.

Criticism welcome
Thanks for looking
44  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Problems transfers using baking parchment paper on: February 19, 2009 08:16:43 PM
I tried Valerie's transfers paper, baking parchment paper, it did not work with my canon printer inks. The images where light and broken up. I am disappointed, I really wanted to transfer images to polymer clay. I tried the shirt transfer paper method first. I did not work at all. I used the same inks as with Valerie's paper. I just bought my printer, I have only made 3 prints from it. I am thinking of taking it back. Has anyone use this method and would suggest a printer, ( I have about $50 in the budget for it) or has other transferring methods?
45  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Discussion and Questions / Book Cover on: February 05, 2009 09:39:44 PM
If I wanted to cover a book cover with polymer clay could I just put it on there and put the book and clay in the oven? It is a bound book so, I can't just bake the cover. Will it burn? Distory the world?

46  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 35 ENTRIES / Beaded Doodle on: February 01, 2009 11:21:30 PM
My fianc and me both went home for family Christmas one last time.  Cry He was also gone for New Years. He called me at midnight and ask me what my resolutions were.

1) Get Married (You know that thing you do after you get engaged)
2) Craft Saturday ( Get to craft every Saturday)

So the first Saturday of January rolls around and I decide to craft. Problem is I can find anything ( anything i.e towels) because we had just moved. Eventually I found some beads and some fabric.  I doodled a flower and decided to bead it.

Ta da 1st craft Saturday accomplished and it was pratice for putting some beading on my wedding dress. I learn a lot doing this simple doodle.

1) Draw the pattern right for the real deal. The petals look wonky but that is what I drew.
2) Time. I am going to need lots of time.

I have not always got to have craft Saturdays due to other things, but I just craft on the weekdays. I did not get to craft for almost 2 years because we lived in a 1 room apt. and there was not room. So I am busting out crafts nowdays.  I have been waiting like the new kid to post this since late December. It is still in the frame because I don't know what to do with the finished product.

47  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Venture Brothers Coasters! on: January 31, 2009 07:48:50 PM
I made these for a friend of mine for Hogwatch.

They are images I made in photoshop, added quotes then used mod podge to glaze them. I had never used mod podge before. I don't like the lines left from brush fibers.  I looked for other glazes but there were none at the store. I sanded it according to the directions. I was in a hurry to get them done because I did not know when we were going to have Hogwatch ( It depended on my gift, Paul Kidby cup, coming in the mail), that I didn't have time to rewatch Venture Brothers for the best quotes.  The photos did not come out as bright as real life. I had to get my friend to photograph them because I gave them to him before I took some.

 See they work.
48  COOKING / Dessert / Bat-piphany cake! on: January 27, 2009 01:47:22 PM
A friend of mine was sad that he did not get a Rosca de Reyes this year. So I was volunteered to make one for him, by a second and third party. It was a week late and we could not find a cookable baby Jesus. Thus, Bat-piphany was born.  I used a recipe from http://mexicanfood.about.com/od/tortillasandbreads/r/threekingsbread.htm to make the cake (sort of), then added fruit cake candies. Next I burn it, just a little bit. Cut a hole in the bottom and inserted a 50 cent, ball machine Batman  (what can I say the boy love comics) into it and stuff the cake scooping back in the hole.

Tada, one happy Mexican.

50  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Dethklok etched glasses on: December 11, 2008 09:38:14 PM
I made these for my officemate for his birthday in November. When I saw other people were crafting Dethklok. I decided to post these guys.  I etched all of the band members plus the manager. There are some flaws but it is the first etching I have done in 8 years so not to bad for being out of practice.
