1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Multi Craft Mucha on: December 11, 2008 08:40:24 AM
Wow.. I am finishing up gifts left and right. This is going to be for my mom. She is a huge fan of Alphonse Mucha's paintings so I thought I would try to reproduce one for her.
I used all kinds of things I had laying around over many many days... and the final product is made of felt, some fabric applique, embroidery, beading, and fabric paint.
I think I am going to make a nice little tote with the green leafy fabric to stitch it onto. This took forever, but I am quite pleased with the results. Here are some pics and the original painting I was working from.

Thanks for looking!
2  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Hot Dog! (Beware the double entendre) EDIT: Completed Pic on: December 10, 2008 10:38:46 AM
Thanks for all the wonderful comments... Here is a finished picture...and I will try to get a pic once it is installed in said wiener shack!

Yay... I finished one more gift today.

Two of my best friends recently opened up a hot dog/food operation at our neighbourhood bar...so i thought they could use something snarky and/or utterly ridiculous to hang up on the wall. I just googled an image and threw it into hobbyware. I really like how it turned out. I was going to add some backstitching but I kind of like the almost pointilist-ish aspect of it. It looks supercool from further away.

Voila!
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Woven "Tweed" Scarf [pic heavy] on: December 10, 2008 08:00:34 AM
This HAS to be my favourite technique I have come across lately. Its from a stitch pattern in Sasha Kagan's Crochet Inspirations called Woven Tweed. This is the second scarf I have made like this and they turn out really nicely! I just love the pattern. It's a simple DC mesh stitch that then has strands of yarn woven through it to finish. This is a bicolor one I made for the bf's stepdad in his favourite Ohio University colours.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Matryoshka Ear Warmer (Edit: Pics posted) on: December 09, 2008 07:31:35 AM
In the midst of making a billion gifts, I needed to make something for myself. The pattern for the ear warmer is from this month's Crochet Today and the doll x-stitch is adapted from a pattern I got on superbuzzy.com. The actual crochet was done easily in a few hours  Smiley
