1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Advice on dyeing leather? on: May 05, 2013 04:49:04 PM
In a vain attempt to appear like a fashionable young professional, I made the mistake of buying an ugly tote bag in white leather.  It's real leather, I paid an embarrassing amount for it, and it's too late to give it away/return it.  I've decided to embrace my choice, and add a little adventure to my life by trying to dye it a nice chocolate brown.  I need advice because I don't want to throw away more cash making more mistakes.

This is the purse (description is accurate):
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006104F86/ref=as_li_tf_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B006104F86&linkCode=as2&tag=vglnk-c309-20

I want to make it match my favorite purchase (this shiny, chocolate brown color): http://www.ebay.com/itm/Coach-Julia-Chocolate-Patent-leather-Zippy-Wallet-w-detachable-strap-46726-NWT-/350782217836

Any advice (what to use; leave it to a professional, etc) will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I have been meaning to make a jeans rug so I can use it for outdoor picnics! Unfortunately, I don't have any sewing experience, and I have no idea how to attach the pieces (I am assuming I need a sewing machine).  Please advise me on how to go about making my own rug. Smiley

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Inspired Watercolour on: May 16, 2009 02:00:39 PM
I was really impressed with weighanchor's watercolours, and after she posted her amazing tutorial, I thought I would be adventurous and give it a go.  I got a little too excited when the paint was dry and just started pulling off the masking fluid, which unfortunately torn the paper.  Also, I accidentally made some paint smudges.

This is my first try, but I am pleased and hope to do this again soon. Smiley

*Edit: renamed for clarification's sake*

These are so cute!  My cousin just bought some of these for her baby for $20, and I told her she should have made them.  Your's are much better than any that are available on the market.  Can't wait to see more stuff you make! Smiley
