I received yesterday from our wonderful swap organiser! She sent me two great things; a really nice dragon t-shirt, which is in my two favourite colours, fits perfectly and is an awesome design, and a beginners embroidery kit!! I already have a mind of what to embroider, so hopefully I can start it soon!
Here's a pic of the whole package;
One of the T-shirt on its own;
And the embroidery kit!
Also, sorry for the quality of pictures, I'm in the midst of moving home from University, and my good Camera is still packed up somewhere!! Thanks again TroubleT; both for the swap, and for the gifts!!
I'd just like to say, I am so, so sorry to chughes225 for not posting pictures of what I recieved in my angel sooner! I took the pictures at the time on my old phone and just kind of assumed that I'd uploaded them before I got rid of it, which I evidently didn't... I only noticed today that I hadn't, so please, please forgive me!
I got a fantastic package from chughes225 a few months ago, which I loved and I can safely say that all of it has had good use so far! First up is this awesome moustache keyring saying 'Ladies man' for Charlie, which has been attached to my keys ever since I received it!
Next, an awesome Emmett and Rosalie bookmark (my favourite characters!) which generally sits inside my copy of "The younger Edda" and makes me smile everytime I have to manage the dreaded work...
Third this great little file, which sits on my mantelpiece in my room at University. Very useful indeed!
Fourth, an apple cozy, being modelled by a Terry's Chocolate orange, because I have no apples.
Fifth, an awesome white crocheted hat based on Rosalie's in the first movie, which I love!
and Finally (sort of!) This amazing Volturi bag which I absolutely love! I find that it's one of the bags I use most at Uni because it's the perfect size for a couple of textbooks and stationary!
Close up :
There was also a jar of Emmett's grizzly (gummy) bears, which I accidentally left at home, so do not have with me at Uni. They were yummy though!
Thank you so much chughes225 for organizing such a great swap (and for sending such a great package!)
So, my partner received a little while ago and I promised to post pics of what I sent, so here goes!
She's Team Jacob, so much of the stuff was made around that. First up are the wearables; a tank top I made with the Quileute tattoo on the front, and a howling wolf on the back, a Native American style headband and a blood drops bracelet with and apple charm;
Then the 'game': I designed a pack of twilight cards along with some twilight themed game instuctions;
And the sweets: some general Halloween-y ones, some apple chews and some 'La Push Werewolf droppings';
If anyone wants the PDF's for the games, the cards or the Wolf box for the werewolf droppings, let me know and I can try and upload them somewhere.
To follow on from my Partner; I received my package at the beginning of last week but the porters didn't tell me and then I was too busy to post pics over the weekend. I have tried to rotate the images, but it seems like some have worked and some haven't. If you have any better pics Anofeles, please post them! Anyway, without any further ado;
Here's a group shot to start it off:
The first things I pulled from the box were these two utterly awesome notebooks! I am a huge fan of Gothic literature (and a closet Goth ) so these were awesome. I particularly liked the opening door on the red one.
Then was this really cool 'secret' book with a Bow inside;
I have wanted one of these for sooooooo long, it's ridiculous.
Next up was this little dragon (named Gwyrdd Dreig or Grr for short) to keep me company at Uni;
Along with a little plant pot inspired by her wings, which I am hoping to grow a marshmallow plant in;
Anofeles also sent me a really cool Wind charm thing which is now hanging on my window and looking rather Celtic-y :
She also sent me loads of Yummy sweets from the Czech republic, a pencil case, a red biro and a rubber, all of which are now being used!
Thank you so much Anofeles, and Julieboolie for organizing!! This has been a great swap.
Hey, y'all! I'm really sorry for not posting pics in ages; my phone is now broken so I couldn't get the pics off it, and the box with the package went missing on the way back from Germany! Thankfully, it has now been found and I have some (hopefully) better quality photos.
My sister (who shall henceforth be known as Robyn. For that is her name.) was delighted with the package; it arrived whilst we were eating dinner in my Uncle's house and she was wearing her Phantom shirt at the time. Ever the show of Phan-manship. Every item was either wrapped in, or themed around Robyn's fave quotes, save the last.
The first thing she opened, was this astounding Phantom mask, with the quote; "Look at your face in the mirror, for I am there inside" which was- wait for it- mirrored! Very cool, and an instant hit with Robyn who is torn between displaying it and wearing it.
And a close up of the writing (mirrored and not mirrored):
Next up, were these beautiful jewellery pieces, themed around the quote "Remember, there are worse things than a shattered Chandelier." According to Lionne, the bracelets were once pierced earrings (which none of us would have been able to wear). Robyn particularly loves the brooch, which she's been wearing quite a bit recently. We are curious though Lionne, what did you use to make the chandelier pieces?
Third, themed around "Your hands are cold, your face, Christine, it's white", were these gorgeous lacy arm warmers. Robyn particularly likes the one with the extra lace ruffle around it.
Finally, the item with no Quote, was this amazing drawing of Christine which is now residing on the windowsill. I can draw manga style, but I've never really had the courage to send any of my pictures in a swap before.
(Sorry about the glare on the glass; maybe I could try to scan it at some point?)
And finally, a group shot!
Thanks again Lionne! Robyn really loved the things you made and was really happy to (finally) receive something in a swap. Hopefully we can do this again next year, when she will be able to swap on her own!
Finally, on a more serious note, I know that I've been really bad with posting pics, but if Goktrose and Lionne could either post pics of what they received, or at least let me know so that I know you're still ok, then that would be great.
Calling all budding Space explorers! Come and join the Space Race!
So the basic idea of this swap is that in each partnership, one partner would be "Russia" with the other one playing "America" in the Space Race. With Send outs on April 12th (points if you can tell me why!) each partnership will craft items based on 3 or more missions that took place on their country's behalf with the aim of each partner being to send out first, gaining a point for their country! At the end of the swap, the points would be tallied and the winning country of the "Space 'Craft' race" announced at the end of the swap.
Some possible key dates might be;
12 April 1961 First manned spaceflight (Yuri Gagarin) USSR
7 March 1962 First orbital solar observatory USA (NASA)
16 June 1963 First woman in space (Valentina Tereshkova) USSR
21 July 1969 First human on the Moon and first space launch from a celestial body USA
15 July 1975 First multinational manned mission USSR USA (NASA) Apollo-Soyuz Test Project
So... What'dya think? Sign-ups 12th-24th Feb 2012?
Hi! So I'm finally going to try and post what I received for like the 5th time; the only internet consnection I've had since I received on Monday has been a shoddy one at a camp site, which kept dropping out every time I tried to post. But I'm home now, and trying again!
I received an amazing package from Chameleonhound; one which I keep saying is the best I've ever received. I opened up the box to see the soles of some shoes right at the top, which was an item I had an idea might be coming. But I was certainly not expecting something this amazing! When I got them out I found these Toy Story shoes (Yes, Toy Story is Whedonverse, because he wrote the screenplay. ) I think it was here that I new it was going to be a truly awesome swap.
Right, Featuring Buzz and my fave quote;
Left, featuring Bo (another of my fave characters!);
(By the way, ChameleonHound; if you have better pictures, feel free to post them. My Camera is down at the mo, so I had to make do with phone pics, which did not capture the detail!)
Next up were some wonderful Toy Story Pez dispensers and some yummy maple candies, which I'm not sure are in any of the photos;
3rd, was this really detailed Rex necklace; I cannot understand how you are so good with Polymer Clay! My attempts are extremely terrible... I have literally only taken this off to sleep and swim since receiving it; I love it!
(^^ His teeth look like something from a toothpaste advert in this pic!)
I then opened up this great Sunnydale yearbook (with a handpainted front cover!) complete even with every Sunnydale student of Buffy's year;
And Last but most certainly not least; Anya's Butterfly shirt from Once More with Feeling!!! It was the one wish item I mentioned in my Questionnaire, and as Chameleonhound said she wasn't much of a Sewer, I wasn't expecting it at all! As my mum and sisters will attest, I actually teared up whilst opening this one. I've worn it twice since, and been given several compliments! (Including to a musical quiz yesterday, where one of the questions was to identify the Buffy Theme tune. I got unbelievably excited about that one, )
Unfortunately, I've yet to get a good action Shot. Nor will the picture actually show up! Until I do manage to get it to work (tried both craftster and flickr) it has been uploaded on my Flickr photostream; http://www.flickr.com/photos/64341958@N06/ I will keep trying though!!
Thank you so, so much Chameleonhound and Padfoot; this has been a truly amazing swap and I've made some fantastic new discoveries in terms of Firefly and Dr Horrible.
Hope we can do it again!
By the way, Chameleonhound and I had a wonderful moment of Serendipity on this swap; I hope her package arrives soon so she can see how!
Nice to see you again. This is is a whole deal of firsts for me; not only is it my first foray into shoe making, but it's also my first foray into challenges and my first real try and mixing media! I hope you like my entry; I certainly don't expect to win, but I hope you like my idea, anyway!
Here's a little peek;
It was my prom on the 1st July, and as I was unable to make my own dress (due to a crummy back injury) I decided instead to make my own shoes! Well, sorta. I started out with my favourite pair of heels, which were getting pretty destroyed. They were scuffed and losing colour so I decided to beef them up a bit.
First, because it didn't even occur to me to just polish the shoes, I decided to colour them in with a black fabric marker. I then attached a shorter silver chain and a longer black chain, before attaching 8 scrabble tiles. They turned out looking like this;
Action Shot on the night!
I really like them, and they were a hit at Prom, but I had to walk around with superglue in my bag, for every time the shoes broke. They hold up pretty well, but I think the chains were a bad idea as it makes them quite easy to break but I still love them.
