161  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jeans pocket remote holder on: January 13, 2009 08:44:06 PM
I made this remote holder out of recycled jeans pockets, a khaki pant leg and a piece of corrugated plastic left over from the construction of my guinea pig cage.  It works perfectly to hold the remotes and my A/V geek husband loves it, but I can't help thinking it's a bit too plain.  I would like to add some embellishments.  Does anybody have any suggestions?

This is so fun.  I love incorporating inside jokes into a craft.
163  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Owl note holder on: January 11, 2009 06:28:51 PM
I got a Singer Basic sewing machine for Christmas and the first thing I made with it was this owl note / coupon holder.  I didn't use a pattern and I tried to use mostly fabric I had on hand.  He has button eyes and his "claws" are tiny wooden clothes pins glued on with Sobo fabric glue.  His pouch is just big enough for a pack of post-it notes.  The project took me about 2 1/2 hours to complete.  He's crooked in places and the hand sewn parts are a little uneven, but I these imperfections give him a lot of character.  I've got him hanging on my wall next to the front door so I'll notice the notes or coupons he's holding when I'm on my way out.  Cute and functional!
