Thank you for the comments. It was hard, but fun to make the costume. Particularly fun walking around the mall and making sharp, jerky, jumping movements at people I passed. Made two kids scream!  Wink

Was that last pic a Sailor Moon pose? If so you rock.

You make some scary costumes girl! But you are very talented!

That part of silent hill scared the bajeezus out of me!

It was indeed a Sailor-Moon pose! Hahaha! I couldn't resist. Roll Eyes

Thank you both for the compliments! It was a fun costume to make!

That's fantastic!! It's a brilliant idea and equally brilliant execution! Did you have to explain it a lot, or had many people seen Pan's Labyrinth?

I had to explain it a bit, but some people got it right off the bat!

Hello there! This year, I decided to go as The Pale Man from the movie Pan's Labyrinth. It was a really hard costume to make, I'll tell you. For each costume I make, I try to challenge myself a bit more, and this was certainly a challenge!

I made it out of skin-tone swimsuit fabric, hot glue, and some of those little plastic blobs that you use in the feet of dolls to make them stand up. I put those in the skin-flabs to make them swing and look weighed down a bit.

I painted the gloves and eyes, and the nostrils, and hand-sewed a lot of the wrinkles on the legs and torso. It was really hard to see (I had to look out the nostrils), but the costume was really comfy!

I went to visit my best friend at school and she has Film-Class first period (the teacher loves me, so I can just sit in the class whenever I want to). Well, we have a sort of school news program that plays every second period on TV to he entire school where they read the announcements and such. My best friend was Anchoring that day, and no one wanted to Co-Anchor.... sooo....

Pale Man: the Co-Anchor!

I got to read the daily announcements in my costume! It was great fun, especially as the whole school got to see it. The teacher was told it was the best show the school had in the last few years! Talk about a compliment!

After first period, I took a bus downtown and went to see a movie. I do online school, so I had all day to walk around and freak people out. Great fun!

Anyways, tell me what you think!

Hullo there! This is a Halloween Costume I made for last year (not this year). I went as Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. I am a fan of both the movie and the games, and Pyramid Head is my favorite character! I was stuck in the appartment room with PH, and I was hit with inspiration to be him for Halloween!

So! First order of business was to make the helmet, which, I'll tell you right now, was hell. I made mine from cardboard, with wire and black see-through fabric on the inside, so I could see. I painted it up and then modpodged it so the paint wouldn't get everywhere if it rained. I also attached plastic chains that I bought so it would stay on my head.

Then I went and got some skin-resembling fabric and cut sewed it into a butcher robe looking outfirt and covered that in fake blood. I got some dollar store white tights, cut a hole in the crotch for my head, and painted the sleeves with red paint so my arms would look bloody and pale. Some rubber gloves and...

Ta-da!

And because I am an idiot this way, I had to take a sailor-moon like pose.

In the name of Hell, I shall punish you!

Hahaha!

Walking around, I made four kids scream/cry, scared a schoolbus full of children that passed by, and frightened loads of other people. It was great fun, walking around in it, but my back hurt from holding up the helmet after a while.

Thanks for looking!
307  CLOTHING / Costumes: Completed Projects / Pan's Labyrinth Dress on: December 04, 2008 10:49:35 AM
So, I am a huge fan of the movie Pan's Labyrinth, and when I saw this dress, I knew I had to make it. When I sewed it, I barely knew how to sew, and it was my first time ever sewing a dress or sleeves or anything. But I feel I did a pretty good job, especially since I had no pattern and had to wing it. I also made a sort of mock petticoat to fluff the dress up, but it is truly hideous.

Here are the pictures!

Me with costume-pride!

A shot of me and an old leather bound book.

I have come a long way in my costuming since then, it astounds me. Still, as my first dress and sleeve attempt, I am pretty thrilled with it.
