1  Re: One Tiny Supernatural Thing Swap - Valentines Day Edition : Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Alexandra-the-Great on: January 25, 2011 08:03:32 PM
I just got my package from lylacfey! It is a little Castiel necklace with a key on it. I was wearing it around all day! Thanks for being a great partner!  Grin

Sorry the picture is a little washed out. I took, like, fifteen pictures, but this was the best one. I'm going to say it is just because Cas didn't want anyone to see his true visage...

2  Re: Cephalopod swap! in The Swap Gallery by Alexandra-the-Great on: October 01, 2010 02:54:20 PM
I have finally gotten around to posting the pictures of the fantastic package that Winged_Soul sent me! Cheesy Sorry for the delay! I received it Monday, but I am getting ready to start my job and had to do a Nursing Delegation class!

Here are the pictures!

Everything was inside this absolutely WONDERFUL treasure-chest box! It looks small in the pictures, but it is actually Huge!! I squealed out loud, since I have been trying to find something to store my Embroidery things in, and this is perfect for it! I love boxes! There are tentacles going all around the box!

And on the bottom, the Octopus!  Grin

Inside the box was:

A CTHULHU HAT! I am a huge, huge, HUGE fan of Cthulhu, and the fact that I now have him in hat-form is awesome! Hats are my absolute favorite accessory! I have a ton and I wear them all the time! And the hat is super soft, too!

Next was a little octopus box, which I thought was adorable! Inside of that, there were two Octopus rings! But I couldn't seem to get a good shot of those! :/

Finally, and I couldn't believe it:

Tentacle JEANS! I am in absolute love with these! They fit perfectly! I wore them around yesterday and I got a ton of compliments on them!! They are fantastic! It is pretty perfect, because one of my pairs of jeans has gotten a bit too worn out! Now I have a new pair!

Also, not pictured, Winged_Soul added a bag of chocolates, but those have since been eaten and I was unable to take a picture! They were absolutely delicious, however!!

Thank you sooo much, Winged_Soul! You were an awesome Swap Partner!!

3  The Scarecrow, from Batman: Arkham Asylum (VG) in Costumes: Completed Projects by Alexandra-the-Great on: July 03, 2010 02:55:31 AM
Hey there, everyone! It's been ages since I have posted! Too much to do, and too many costumes to work on to actually finish anything!

Anyways, there was a comic convention here in Spokane, and, being the huge Batman freak that I am, I simply HAD to Dress up as The Scarecrow, from the video game Batman: Arkham Asylum. His costume is probably the scariest costume I have ever seen (I am terrified of Medical Needles. I'll very nearly pass out if I have to get blood drawn...). However, I am insanely obsessed with Dr. Jonathan Crane, the Master of Fear, so I fell in love with his costume! The best portrayal of him I have ever seen. Perfect.

Well, it was a hellish struggle to make it, and I agonized over it for about two and a half months. But in the end, I succeeded! I went with two of my best friends, who dressed up as Poison Ivy and The Penguin respectively. There were a TON of Batman Villains (No Batman, though.  Huh) It was cool to prowl around with the other villains and hunt for Batman. There was a costume contest, which I won 'Most Authentic!'. I was thrilled! Overall, it was a hoot and I had a ton of fun!

I am not going to go into huge details here on this post, since I just got done writing down all of it to post on my website, and it is far too much text to put here and expect all of you to remain reading. If you want to know more detail and see a ton more pictures, go to my website here: http://alexandra-the-great.webs.com/apps/blog/show/3913449-the-scarecrow-finished-

Anyways, here are the pictures!

The Reference pictures. This is what I was basing my costume off of:::

My Costume:::

(Hanging out with the 501st Legion, who were also there! They are an amazing costumed volunteer organization dedicated to Star Wars. Look them up! I am joining once I get enough money to buy my Stormtrooper costume!)

(Two amazing universes collide!)

Thanks for checking it out! Look on my site for a very detailed write up of how I made it, as well as more pictures and some in-progress ones as well!

4  Re: One Tiny Star Trek Thing Gallery! in The Swap Gallery by Alexandra-the-Great on: May 16, 2010 09:31:28 PM
I received my package from StrawberryJeli the other day, but I only now just got around to being able to post pictures. I was caught up in the preparations for the baby Ball Python I just brought home today!  Kiss

Anyways, This was the outside of the package, and it made me squeal out loud. I am cutting them out and they are going on my wall!

The outside of the amazing tin I got! It is really cool feeling and I love the stars!

And the inside of the tin!

I absolutely ADORE it! It is 3D too, though it is hard to see in the picture, so that he is literally inside of the viewscreen and popping out from the back of the tin! I have it by my bed so whenever I am writing and making stupid and illogical mistakes, I can look over, open it up, and get helpful, overly complicated advice from Mr. Spock!  Cheesy Wink

Thank you so much, StrawberryJeli! I love it!

5  Crocheted Mr. Spock! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Alexandra-the-Great on: May 09, 2010 10:26:39 PM
I crocheted up this little Mr. Spock for the 'One Tiny Star Trek Thing' Swap, for StrawberryJeli! I am a HUGE Spock fan, so, logically( Cheesy), I had to make a little Mr. Spock! He had to be at most 4 inches, so he is pretty much exactly that tall. I made the insignia badge, phaser and communicator using polymer clay, and his rank badges are some goldish yellow yarn I glued on.

I am going to have to make myself one now, I absolutely fell in love with him!! Not to mention my mum is begging me to make her one. :p

Captain and First Officer, the ultimate duo!

Mr. Spock takes command!

I hope you like him!

6  Crochet Hannibal Lector! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Alexandra-the-Great on: May 03, 2010 05:18:09 PM
I made a crocheted Hannibal Lector doll for Christmas for one of my best friends. She is a huge fan of the movies (and so am I, for that matter. Anthony Hopkins  Kiss), so I decided what better than to receive a huggable, cuddly Cannibal?!

I made the restraint-mask from felt.

Sorry for the bad pictures, I had to take super-fast pictures before I had to wrap it as my friend was on her way to my house that very moment.

7  Red and White Pleated Clutch! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by Alexandra-the-Great on: March 22, 2010 08:49:40 PM
Hey there, this is my first purse I have ever made and I must say, I think I may be hooked! Suddenly, I have so many ideas. It's not the best I can do, but my sewing machine seemed possessed by a horde of evil today, and It was a struggle just to get it to stitch.

And it is pleated, even though the photos don't seem to want to show it. The fabric was this really silky one I got ages and ages ago that was just sitting in my stash waiting for me to figure out something to do with it. It's lined with the plain red fabric as well, though I forgot to take pictures of the inside.

I used the link below which I HIGHLY recommend! Especially if you are new to purse making, like I am.
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=24610.220/

I can't wait to start making more!  Grin I have a feeling all my friends will be suddenly getting a lot of new purses soon!

(Ignore my Batman bedsheets. Roll Eyes )

8  The Comedian Plushie! in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Alexandra-the-Great on: March 12, 2010 10:18:24 PM
So, I am an absolutely Watchmen fanatic, and Edward Blake (The Comedian), is one of my favorite characters. He is such a horrible person, and I hate the things he has done, but I love him oh-so much! My mom, thankfully, shares my passion for both Watchmen and Eddie, due to my corruption of her. I was frantically trying to decide what to make her for Christmas, since everyone was getting a crocheted doll. She already had plenty of Ninjas and Zombies... and then it hit me!

A Little Comedian to watch over and protect her desk at work!

I modified the Basic Head and Body from 'Creepy Cute Crochet', by using a larger hook size for the head (I think I used a J hook, but I am not completely sure...), and two or three added rows of SC at the end of the body pattern to make him a bit taller. Then I just used felt and yarn to decorate him. It's hard to see, but the felt straps that go over his shoulder go all the way down to his belt.

I am thrilled with how he turned out, and my only regret is that I can't have him for myself! I will be soon making a Sally Jupiter to join him. And the rest of costumed heroes, eventually...

Hope you like him!

9  The Mad Hatter (with appearances from Alice and The March Hare!) ((Img heavy!)) in Costumes: Completed Projects by Alexandra-the-Great on: March 06, 2010 07:17:08 PM
When I heard that Tim Burton was making Alice in Wonderland, I FLIPPED! One of my favorite stories combined with my favorite director! Not to mention I about cried in joy when I read the casting list. Alan Rickman?! Christopher Lee?! Johnny Depp and Helena Bonham Carter were a given, of course, but Stephen Fry?! Ahh! I instantly knew I had to dress up for the premier!

The Mad Hatter is one of my favorite characters in Alice in Wonderland (as well as The Cheshire Cat. They are about tied in first place...), so I knew I had to be him. I have a thing for hats and odd clothes, and Depp's Mad Hatter had both! How perfect!

The pants were made out of a really hideous long skirt I got from the thrift store a long time ago because I liked the fabric. It was green, with light green pinstripes and some sparkly thread woven in. I used some fabric I got at a yard sale for the vest, but I had to hand sew the buttonholes (something I hated with a passion, but it was during a Supernatural marathon, so it was bearable). I got the buttons from the Dollar Store, the coat and shirt from the thrift store, and the wig from a costume shop.

I sewed lace on the inside of the sleeves, but otherwise the coat was left untouched. I must say, I really do love that coat! I am going to keep the lace on, I think. It makes it more dramatic...

The hat, however, caused me a lot of frustration, Glue fume caused high, and at some points tears. I ended up making four versions of the hat, actually. The first three did not turn out well at all. The fourth, however, was perfect! I glued fabric on it, glued the lace on, and sewed the brim with fabric and a straightened-then-bent wire coat-hanger. It turned out way better than I could have hoped! I also added the pink fabric and the card and feather. It had makeshift hatpins, but I didn't much like the look of them, so I removed them.

I cut some pieces off the top of the wig and attached them to my eyebrows using Spirit Gum. They turned out wonderfully, as did the costume makeup. It lasted for over seven hours without fading!

I go into a lot more detail on how I made the costume itself in my costume blog: http://alexandra-the-great.webs.com/apps/blog/show/2939646-the-mad-hatter-in-progress-

However, I will post some pictures of the finished costume here.

Also, I made the skirt for Alice's costume, as well as The March Hare's hat. Smiley

(Candid 'Getting-the-Mail' shot!)  Cheesy

Here is the March Hare's hat. I made and attached the ears to it.

Hope you liked them! I highly recommend the movie! It was a very fun watch and I really enjoyed it!  Grin
