2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / HEDWIG and the ANGRY INCH... DOLL! on: March 06, 2006 07:39:53 PM
HEY EVERYONE!

this is actually my first project post... i'm a lazy poster.  Tongue

anyway, this is a doll i made a couple years ago.  i am obsessed with the movie/musical  hedwig and the angry inch...
she/he is made out of a barbie... can you believe i actually had to go out and buy a barbie to make it?!  all of my childhood barbie's had been used already or i had given them haircuts long ago (and of course it's just not hedwig without the "hed wig")  i used material scraps i had around for the cape and clothes.  i was really lucky at finding the perfect red kneehigh boots at a dollar store... i re-painted the make-up and fingernails... and the inside of the cape i just drew with pencilcrayons on canvas.

i'm sure all the "hed-heads" out there will appriciate this... i only wish i had made it before i went to the convention... i could have shown it to john cameron mitchell.

i'm a geek!  Cheesy

3  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / 100% polyester dying... is it possible?? on: July 16, 2005 02:54:01 PM
so... i need some rose coloured ruffle trim for a sewing related art project.  i had gotten some before at the good old DOLLARAMA but i've run out... so i go to the dollarama and they are all out of the colour i want!  but they do have white trim.
so i buy the white and decide i will dye it.
so after going all over the place looking for just the right coloured dye.. i come home and open the pakage to read: WILL NOT DYE POLYESTER.... look at my pakage of trim: 100% POLYESTER!

basically... i am terribly annoyed and wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to dye polyester some way.

any advice would be much appreciated.

thanks H.
