1  Re: Cheer Up Swap Gallery of Cheer-Upiness in The Swap Gallery by chilly billy on: July 01, 2009 04:05:47 AM
I received my angel package from pinkmichk this morning - hooray!

She sent me a lovely embroidered tote bag, a framed embroidery (which looks beautiful in my kitchen!), some homemade coasters, a necklace and bracelet set, a key ring, some stitch markers and some sock yarn and buttons. It was a really nice package and it certainly cheered me up!

Thank you pinkmich, and Feast Your Eyes for organising the swap.

I have not heard anything from lilylola since I sent my package to her two weeks ago, so I am going to go ahead and post what I sent her. I hope she turns up soon!

A big knitted shrug from her wists.

She said her favourite animals were birds so I sent her...

A bird bag.

A bird badge.

And a little knitted bird.

I also sent her a scented felt heart ornament stuffed with rose petals to hang somewhere.

And some little extras of boojabooja vegan truffles, figs and rouge rose body balm, a little birdy mirror, alphabet beads and a kit to grow your own chillies.

Lilylola, if you're out there, I hope you received and enjoyed!

3  knitted mole in Knitting: Completed Projects by chilly billy on: March 09, 2009 07:28:51 AM
Meet Gilbert the mole.

He's quite sausagey looking and I know he's not amazing, but he's the first thing like this I've made, so I'm pleased with him none the less.

Based on this pattern, but I made a few changes and didn't felt him.

7  hairbow made from recycled money in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by chilly billy on: January 30, 2009 02:53:18 AM

I made this hair bow from an old Polish banknote, lacquered.

I feel like a bit of a chump, though - when I made this I was convinced that Poland used the Euro now and that the currency was obsolete, so the money was worthless... but, as was pointed out here, I was wrong!

I'm still really pleased with hairbow - I think it's really pretty, but I also think it's kind of offensive. I struggle and I know how much of a difference 1 or 2 can make, and I hate it when people don't appreciate that, so it feels a bit hypocritical wearing money in my hair, but ahh well. What's done is done...!

8  brooches made from old/foreign coins in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by chilly billy on: January 23, 2009 04:57:02 PM
On one of the many occassions I've been deserate for cash recently, I gathered up my childhood coin collection and took it to a shop near me that will value old coins for free, and buy them if they're worth anything... I discovered that their only value is their prettiness!

Now that I know for sure I won't be kicking myself in future for ruining priceless antique coins with cement glue, I thought why not make some of them into brooches so they can see a bit more of the world, instead of gathering dust in a corner!

I'm sorry that the pictures dont show the details of the coins very well - I assure you, they're really beautiful!

My favourite isn't in the picture, because I gave it to a friend. It was a lovely shiny old Deutschmark - and I'm pleased to say that it has already survived a journey through the washing machine!

9  Anti-Valentine's Day tshirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by chilly billy on: January 20, 2009 12:28:38 PM
This time six years ago, when we were bitter and angry fourteen year olds, my friend and I decided we'd show the world our contempt for its sickly sweet Valentine's Day nonense by making Anti-Valentine's Day tshirts.

The picture was taken June 2003, but the tshirt still fits (just)!

10  vanilla cocoa caramel cookies in Vegetarian / Vegan by chilly billy on: January 19, 2009 03:33:34 PM

I was clearing out my baking cupboard today, so of course I had to bake something to reward all that hard work!

I only had random supplies left, so I made up these Vanilla Cocoa Caramel Cookies with 2 cups wholemeal spelt flour, a tablespoon of baking powder, 1 cup demerara sugar, a half cup of sunflower oil and a quarter cup of water, as well as three caps of vanilla essence and some cocoa nibs - baked at 180C for 10 minutes.

Whilst they were baking, I made vanilla caramel (sugar, water and vanilla essence) to drizzle over the top of the cookies.

Yum yum!
