1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Talk About The Swap Process / Swap Organizers - Feedback? on: January 01, 2013 12:06:04 PM
So participants get feedback... but no way to feedback an organizer?
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mortal Instruments / Infernal Devices - Shadowhunters? on: June 01, 2012 03:52:38 PM
Since the book series is getting set to become a movie franchise... Lots of cool ideas in the series.
Infernal Devices would lend itself to a steampunk theme and the Mortal Instruments to more modern but still fantasy!

3  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Serial Killer Serving Platters on: September 04, 2011 05:16:13 PM
ok, a little on the dark side.... lol
I made these for a swap partner - one of her themes was Serial Killers. I found images of some of her "favorties" and then researched quotes attributable to each. I set up the pictures and quotes on Publisher and then printed onto decal material. I fired the images on white glass to set then assembled them into serving platters and fired to full fuse. I slumped over fiber board to make the "handle" area.
Over all, they turned out well! Only 1 unfortunate bubble in one quote but it's pretty much legible. I confess I was glad to send them out though - kinda creepy!

4  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / I love ponies on: August 28, 2011 01:12:05 PM

and my Taurus ring saw! lol!
5  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Painting with powders on: August 28, 2011 01:08:49 PM
This is one of my husband's favorites.

The center is made using clear sheet glass covered with cut-out cardboard shapes, then dusted with powdered frit to "paint." this sheet is fired once (to tack fuse temps since it's only 1 layer) then cut into 1/4" strips which are then stood on edge.
I measured the strip section and cut out the center of some ribbed rainbow irid and put the strips in the center.
Fired to full fuse then slumped.
The strip technique really gives some depth but cutting the 1/4" strips can be challenging.
6  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / The joy of cold working on: August 28, 2011 01:01:56 PM
I made this place a while ago using some pieces from a pattern bar I'd made and some frit. I cold worked the edges on a lap machine before slumping and I love the "finished" look.

saving for my *own* lap machine (what's another 5000+/- ? lol)

7  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Insect Collection on: August 20, 2011 10:52:47 AM
I made this for a swap partner - inspired by a craft paper project on her wist.
It's smaller than the one on her wist because I had to ship it internationally and I was 1) worried about breakage and 2) keeping shipping cost down (nothing like shipping slabs o'glass internationally!!!)
Anyway - it's dichro-slide sandwiched between thin clear on black. the sandwiching gives it some depth so they look like little butterflies on pins on a background - like the bug collector guys do.

8  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Dinosaurs! on: August 20, 2011 10:49:03 AM
I made these coasters for a swap partner, her favorite animal is "dinosaur" so I thought they'd be fun for her to set her tea cup on!

Silly, but they were fun to do. (I used Hues to Fuse and hand painted them)

9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Purple irid plate - my alternate entry for challenge on: June 10, 2011 04:05:30 PM
I couldn't decide which one to enter, but I went with the red platter... this was my other choice. I love the subtle bubbles from the capped irid. The irid glass I used was transparant purple so it looks like a Rainbow Irid platter until you let the light shine through it.

lots of reflection in it but I'm glad you can't make out it's me in my pj's! lol
10  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / A River Runs Through It - Glass Challenge 2 on: June 10, 2011 03:52:29 PM
My entry for the Glass Challenge 2 is titled "A River Runs Through It" and is a platter/serving plate.

A different angle so the gold irid shows better

Thanks for looking!
