1  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / World of Warcraft amigurumi: Pandaren Monk on: March 28, 2014 11:00:35 AM
I set out on an adventure of crochet and that of heroes.
I drafted my own rough pattern for a panda and tweaked it a bit to fit my idea.
Her arms are moveable, face is hand painted, and she is anatomically correct. (She has breasts)
I sculpted her armor, buttons, bead necklace and earrings out of wire and polymer clay. Hand stitched her felt monk pajamas.
She was a gift for my sister.

Her close up, and the back to show her hair. My favorite part is her little fingers & her beaded necklace.

Thanks for looking and any comments & crit. For Azeroth!

3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / A full moon to howl at. on: May 22, 2013 02:28:44 PM
Challenging my self is something that I have come to expect when creating anything for some one else other than my self. Being a perfectionist is one thing but crocheting something I wasn't sure I'd be able to with out a pattern was another. That's pretty much what happened when I set forth to create a werewolf amigurumi for a swap. World of Warcraft swap to be exact, and the lovely Averia's son was my target. Anyone who has agreed to swap with someone and craft for a young child knows that it can be a little daunting. Undecided How do you impress or makes something for a child that they'll be happy with?

He plays a Worgen hunter in game and I thought this deserves a great amigurumi replica. I searched for patterns online, found some but nothing with the detail I wanted to convey, so I started from scratch. My labor of love was rewarded when I asked for opinions on an online community where I felt the scrutiny could be brutally honest, reddit.com. A blogger by the name of Harper happened to see it and featured it on a gaming blog dedicated to World of Warcraft! (In my world of geek-dom that was a big deal to me!) Shocked I feel so proud to share him with you.

His arms and legs are pose-able, with pipe cleaners in each limb. I am most proud of his tiny fingers.

I hand sewed his clothes and even gave him felt undies.

Here he is in parts, ready to come to life.

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / World of Warcraft or Blizzard Games? on: February 28, 2013 04:49:35 PM

I was thinking another round of Warcraft but to include Diablo III & Star Craft since The Heart of the Swarm is due out soon. Sign ups mid-late March to mid April, 6 points with a month of crafting since it is around finals time? I do want to take school into consideration.

Blizzcon was just announced and I get pretty excited for the conference that I want to make things to wear or share with friends before we gather in (pun intended)hordes. I can organize as long as there is interest soon, closer to summer and I will have more on my plate and won't be able to give it all my attention. Let me know if any one has questions or concerns or send me pm's.

UPDATE:I thought I would include past round galleries for some incentive.

7  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Adventure Time Lumpy Space Princess hat. NOW WITH PATTERN! on: November 27, 2012 04:12:03 PM
So after I made this Jake hat for my husband, I had my little (10 y/o) cousin request a hat too. I told her to look at some pictures of hats and I would try and replicate it for her. She calls me back and sends me a picture of Lumpy Space Princess, then I remembered I showed her a picture of the previously mentioned hat. So a week later I have a hat with some attitude.

She's crocheted in single crochet, lumps, band, and arms are double. I used all stash and tried my darnedest to write down my pattern. It's a medium in kids. Let me know if someone wants it, Embarrassed I will try and post it, although I've never done that before. Might have to walk me through it. Wink Anyways, please tell me what you think.

Sorry it took me so long, had to rewrite pattern due to some discrepancies on my notes. If you happen to make one I'd love to see your take and results. Again I'll apologize ahead of time, this is my first pattern. Let me know if there is anything I need to edit. Smiley

8  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Adventure Time, Jake hat on: November 18, 2012 06:00:51 PM
Made a custom hat for my hubs. He's pretty heavily obsessed with Adventure time. He even dressed as Finn for Halloween.  Took me a bit to get it just right since he likes his hats to fit a certain way. He mostly all single crocheted, using red heart acrylic. His arms and legs are double half crochet and everything is stuffed with yarn scraps and some poly-fill. Took me a month off and on, for about 30 minutes a day. He's supposed to look like he is relaxing on his head. Link at the bottom for reference on who Jake is and where he's from.

Comments and critique always welcome.

9  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Crafting for our Eastern neighbors. on: November 07, 2012 04:18:47 PM
I saw this earlier today and thought that my fellow craftsters would be willing to pitch in.

Make It Better

Also there is a facebook page if you cannot join or donate, but would like to spread the word. http://www.facebook.com/SandyCraftalong

I think I can come up with at least a hat, scarf and some gloves within a week if I really push past this cold I have but getting the word out might help bring some warm clothes for those who need it in wake of the recent storm.

Please pass along, thank you. If this was already posted or is ion the wrong place I apologize in advance.
