1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / I messed up, sorta, any ideas on for dye fixes? on: June 15, 2013 01:48:04 PM
So, I discovered the style of Pastel Goth and I really want to include some of that in my  currant wardrobe. I started with  vest and that's where I have messed up. For starters, I took a thrifted vest and didn't read the wash instructions. the actual dye turned out alright, but then I learned the vest is dry clean only. So when I attempted to dry clean it with an at home kit, the cleaner cloth clung to the vest and created a huge splotch. Now I'm just experimenting with it to see if I can fall in love with it again.

I tried using the RIT Dye fixative stuff to soften the edges of the splotch and that worked pretty well.

But the question becomes, how to I fix the center of the splotch? any ideas?

this is how it looks right now:

And this the close up of the splotch remains:

I'll be adding spikes and studs to the collar, just as an aside.

Please and thank you

2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Adding the Quote Box, advice please? on: June 12, 2013 11:38:24 AM
I've got the perfect bag for me and I want to do some mild alterations just because I can.

It's a mini messenger bag like this: (http://c.shld.net/rpx/i/s/i/spin/image/spin_prod_813353112)

I want to have somewhere on the front of the bag to write quotes on, without it being permanent, so that I can write things to fit my mood on it.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to do that?
3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / "Let the Butterfly cry, let it cry for you" headphones on: March 21, 2013 09:41:50 AM
One of my favorite musical artists, Kerli, just released their EP. I got inspired to make a set of headphones after the song "Butterfly Cry".

And my little sister modeling for size reference:

I would love some feedback from everyone, likes and dislikes. Smiley

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Leather vs. Lazy Machine- can it win? on: February 09, 2012 05:47:29 PM
So, I bought a pair of leather pants, the leather feels extremely thin and soft (Like amazingly soft), to make into a bodice. Then someone mentioned that leather requires all these special tools im order to work it.
I have a little sewing machine, it serves me pretty well considering the machine's quality. But I'm wondering if the leather will be safe if i just force in through the machine anyway. The pretty side of the leather won't be touching the dogger feet, therefore won't be damaged.

Will a machine cope though? Or should I start counting my pennies for all those special tools even though I'm sure I'll never use leather again?
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / The rapid colour change that confuses me on: December 01, 2011 07:39:17 AM
So, I'm trying to crochet the warning signs from portal, but I'm getting stuck at the simplest part. Changing colour.
Am I supposed to cut the yarn every time that I change colours?

Example on ravelry: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/portal-square
after the black stitch, and i switch to white, do I cut the black string?
6  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Words are one of the few things to continue on forever (ink) on: August 30, 2011 08:30:21 AM
This was an assignment from my senior year of High School, from portfolio developement. It's nothing but words. Words written over and over and over again until I felt them engraved into my being.

It's an ink drawing (maybe it's a writing?) i didn't measure it but it's somewhere around 12x16. The words are loneliness, cold, dismal, alone, companionless, etc...All the words reflect the emotion of loneliness.

Comments and Critiques appreciated <3

EDIT:
Here's the closeup Smiley it may still hard to see but that actually now has more to do with the amount of words on top of each other and how terrible my handwriting is.
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Monster under the bed....except I misplaced them :( Call for Advice on: August 29, 2011 07:54:57 AM
For the currant drawing I'm working on, I want to have monsters under a bed in the back ground. However, as previously mentioned, I misplaced my monsters.
Not misplaced like i had references and lost those...I actually lost their place in the drawing. But I still want them.

The drawing is (so far) a figure holding a fake flower while sitting amongst paper flowers.
The drawing and I are arguing. I think the drawing doesn't want the monsters, but I'm not sure that the meaning will get across without the monsters.
Sooo....The question becomes is there a way for monsters to be there without being a monster? Or should i tell the drawing to get over its attitude and accept the monsters?

Thank you in advance for any and all advice <3

8  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Meet my jointed doll, for she is pretty, I think :) on: August 17, 2011 05:56:28 PM
So I made a couple ami but I lost interest in reading patterns really quickly Sad  I also wanted a ball joint doll, however that tis a bit expensive for me. With a combination of these situations, I made stuff up while crocheting and this is what happpened:

She stands about 9inchs. Made for worsted weight and her dress is crocheted embroidery floss.
However, that's not her wig Sad That's her friend's wig, she'll be posted soon hopefully

To show the ball joint in her head

Eventually, I'll get some pipe cleaners to assist the joints in her limbs

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Motivation to finish? on: January 27, 2011 10:50:03 AM
I just completed my portfolio development at my school, however several pieces have yet to be completed. Usually I wouldn't be bothered by this; however, my art teacher informed me during the portfolio review that i will have to display all the work from the class in the art show.

But I'm not motivated in the slightest to finish any of these pieces.

So I'm curious to know if anyone is unmotivated to finish their pieces as well and how they correct that behavior.
10  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / To avoid nail polish on face, could i have some help? on: October 06, 2010 08:08:30 PM
tomorrow is costume day my school and my friend has asked me to be the wolf to her little red riding hood and i agreed, even to the makeup she wants to coordinate.
She wants me to do something like this:
http://trixypixie.deviantart.com/art/Galaxy-93238226?q=gallery%3ATrixyPixie%2F102711&qo=162

only problem is that it's midnight, everything's closed, and i get to school at like 6:30am when no one's open yet; so i can't go buy face sparkles...but i really really want to include some sort of sparkle. Any suggests on how to achieve the sparkles without using my friend's suggestion of nail polish?
(Which i do already know that nail polish is a rather terrible idea)

Any and all help is greatly appreicated Smiley <3 <3
