211  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Nintendo DS Lite case on: February 22, 2009 02:45:38 PM
I have been wanting to make a case for my DS for a long time, but never did until today.

I had very little space to work with so everything is a little squished but here it is:

With a button for a coin.  I had to outline the question mark because I couldn't see it otherwise.

Just a cloud.

And the top.

I love it.   Grin

What do you think?

212  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / SackBoy on: February 19, 2009 10:01:53 AM
So, last October, my friend sent me a picture of this cute little guy she called SackBoy and asked if I could make one.  I thought, "Sure why not, looks easy enough."  It wasn't as easy as I hoped and would have been much easier crocheted, but here he is:

I know he doesn't have fingers, I had the worst time trying to figure those out but my friend told me she would be alright with him not having fingers.  I didn't use a pattern at all.  I just made it up as I went.

There are so many other things wrong with him, but I finally finished him and that's all that matters.

I hope she likes it.

That is fantastic!  I can't crochet a hat to save my life, but I will knit one.  So awesome!

I had problems with the patterns too but I just went with it and made it up as I went.  There are still problems with them and they don't look like the pictures in the book exactly, but I am pleased anyway.

Thank you!

And how did you fix the eyes on the body? With glue or did you model an eyelet to sew them on? They look so cute. I think I will try polymer clay for making my own amigurumi-eyes.
Greetings from Germany

Tine

I just glued the eyes on with a really strong fabric glue.

how cute, your'e sooo talented. i have this book too, have made a few of em.  all three of my g-kids love all of em.   i tried to post my grim reaper but it won't show up here.  Huh  it ended up in the gallery.  mine doesn't compare to yours, shoulda used the clay also, next time.

Thank you very much!  And about not being able to post a picture, have you made 10 posts yet?  I had problems with posting pictures on the forums too until I realized I needed to post 10 times.  I uploaded a bunch of pictures, I guess they count as posts too, and I then was able to post pictures.

Thank you both for the kind words!

I did use polymer clay for the eyes.  Just plain Sculpey.

Did you make the mouths in particular with thin ropes of clay, or did you paint/draw those on?

I carved in a little line for the mouths before I baked them, then filled them in with paint afterward.  Except for Nathan Explosion, I just painted his on.

(Be sure and insert the actual photo in this thread once you've posted 10 times --in any  boards at Craftster-- since you'll get a lot more people checking the heads out by doing that!)

I am still very new to this whole thing, so I am still figuring everything out.  Thank you for your advice!

I somehow stumbled upon this book called "Creepy Cute Crochet: Zombies, Ninjas, Robots and More!" by Christen Haden and I am so glad I did.  I loved it.

Here are some of the things I have made from it:

Ninja:

Nosferatu:

Medusa:

Alien:

Death:

Queen Vampire:

I changed the Queen's hair because in the book, she looked crazy.  I think this hairstyle makes her look more like a Queen.

I am happy with them.  Grin
