21  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Old clock into fairy garden on: April 08, 2010 12:52:20 PM

So this has been a project long in the making.  I bought this clock at a yard sale over 2 years ago and was so disappointed when it didn't work.  Rather than toss it I decided to us it for parts but couldn't bear to part with the shell.

So after the last Jar of Whimsies swap I was inspired to create this little diarama (sp??)  A few items were crafted by me, a few were received in the swap, som found in the backyard, and there are a couple things I had laying around.

I am in love with it and that is what counts, but would love to hear some cc!
22  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Whole Bunch of BACON!! on: April 08, 2010 12:42:48 PM

I love finding new recipes on allrecipes.com  When searching for a new cookie recipe I stumbled onto a recipe for chocolate bacon cookies...I didn't try it (yet) BUT it did inspire me to create this mini cookbook devoted to BACON.

I sewed pieces of felt together to create the look of bacon and then trimmed a CD pocket to fit inside and glued together. That way there is a spot to store other recipes or maybe even coupons for BACON! Then I laminated my recipes, sewed them together and then hand stitched them to the cover.

There are about 5 bacon themed recipes in here from appetizer to dessert. I think I may give it as part of my mother's day gift unless I come up with something better before then!

BTW, please let me know if I put this in the wrong spot.
23  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / How To Plan a Mutiny on: March 12, 2010 07:42:12 AM
I recently crafted this for my partner in the Jar of Whimsies swap and thought I'd share it here.  My partner has a love of pirates so this seemed like a good fit!

What self respecting pirate wouldn't carry this around to brush up on his/her skills??  Tongue
This is made from one of those paper mache book/box forms.  I covered it in a leathery/suede-like fabric I had left over from making cowboy costumes.  I think I actually picked up the fabric in the upholstery dept.  I made a stencil of the title out of a alphabet sticker sheet and colored it in with a liquid pen.

The paper "edges" I made with gold puffy paint and then ran a comb through it.  Once it dried I brushed a brown stain over it (sparingly) to give it an aged look.

And of course it opens up to reveal it's treasure!  Complete with a mini-chest inside!!  I lined the interior with a nice red fabric swatch I found to dress it up a bit.

Thanks for looking!  Hopefully I've put this in the right category!
24  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 48 ENTRIES / Needle felted Ninja on: March 01, 2010 11:43:28 AM
I've been on a kick lately of felting tiny little guys.  This is the latest an itty bitty ninja.

He has a little ninja sword strapped to his back:

It was hard to get a shot of the sword

And to show his size more precisely

And here I think he just looks so happy!

thanks for looking!!
25  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Love the tiny stuff on: February 22, 2010 06:55:07 PM
So I love the poly clay items posted here on craftster and am constantly sighing over what I wish I could do.

Here are my first decent attempts at polyclay...
First a mushroom:

His spots glow in the dark cuz I'm dorky that way.

Then one of two birds' nests:

I am currently loving anything teeny tiny so these fed into that I guess.  Hoping to move on to something a little more impressive as I get more practice. Thinking the nest might become a pendant or ring.  Or maybe I will create a teeny diorama!!
Thank you for looking!
26  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Tote for Teacher on: December 11, 2009 04:34:48 PM
My son has an outstanding teacher this year who is also an EMT.  I wanted to do something special for her that was more than the usual gift card, etc.  So...I made her this tote bag.

This little cutie ambulance I purchased from www.quiltware.com and then found my fabric in the scrap bin at Joanne's the outside is a dark denim and the interior is just a cotton.

It is also reversible!

I am really please with how the handles turned out too!

I am hoping she likes it...she has made such a difference for my son this year!
27  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Holiday Inchies Swap on: November 22, 2009 08:29:36 PM
Would anyone else be interested in a quick, light holiday inchies swap?  I know I would love to have a display of holiday inchies to drool over this year.

Whatcha think??
28  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / oink oink oink the 3 Little Piggies on: November 12, 2009 05:58:38 PM
This necklace cracks me up but it was so fun to make!

The piggies are dollhouse miniatures I picked up for a totally different project but they sure make a cute pendant!

29  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / T-shirt tote on: October 10, 2009 06:57:49 AM
My first attempt at a tote made from T-shirts.  I had to have the Detroit Tigers T when I found it at the thrift store for .99 cents!!  99 cents!!!

I love it but I am afraid it looks an awful lot like a tank top.  LOL  maybe I missed a step
30  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Oh Rats!!! Fun Halloween pins on: October 07, 2009 11:47:28 AM
Bought a bag of small plastic rats the other day and then remembered some pin backs that were in my stash...and voila!  Now we are infested with rat pins!

I was cracking up the whole time I was making these.  Somehow seeing these rats all lined up to dry struck me as really funny.
