obviously a lot of people have left comments on your project, but i have to leave mine too! i also enjoy hand stitching and applique, and so i can honestly say, this is amazing!! the time and care and effort alone are unbelievable!! this is truly beautiful and i hope the original author has a chance to read my comment! crafts like this are so underappreciated (not on this website of course, but by the world at large)

Really great looking, but I have a couple questions....

What kind of fabric is that? It looks like a lovely sturdy cotton but when rolled up the roll looks quite thin, so I'm guessing something thinner. Are the bags lined?

Do you roll it up by folding the sides into the middle third, and then start rolling it up at the handle end?
