11  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Re: Secret Santa... on: December 08, 2006 08:47:43 PM
If you don't want to use a chocolate mold, you can always also just get dried fruit or pretzels and dip them in chocolate. You don't even need to use the stove - you can just microwave the chocolate until it is almost melted but not quite and the stir until it melts fully, then dip away and lay the finished food on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper. I think homemade treats are much better than storebought, whatever you decide to do!

I might buy a book he would like at a used bookstore - maybe one of those old west mystery novels or something like that and make a bookmark for him with like, his favorite presidents or something on it. You could also try making a pillow for him with a western type fringe or cool fabric with cowboy boots on it....

behold, my christmas army!

thanks for the insipration - we used to make these when I was a kid too! I went with brown antlers and found some sparkly pom poms in christmas colors at joann's. That was super fun and easy and it will be a nice, silly touch to all of my gifts this year Smiley

16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / Re: marble magnet disaster! on: December 07, 2006 06:41:15 AM
Thanks for the tip! I initially glued the picture to the magnet (which were also smaller than they were supposed to be by a couple millimeters, don't know if that might have something to do with it), and then the marble to the picture and magnet. I think this time I will try gluing the picture to the marble first and then glue that to the magnet....

I used e6000, so I doubt it's the glue  Grin

But any ideas on how to get them apart & the glue off would be appreciated Smiley

Ugh, I made about 110 marble magnets yesterday and just about every single stinkin' one of them dried with HUGE air bubbles!! What the heck am I supposed to do? I guess I will just have to take them all apart and redo them... I am very sad and angry right now  Embarrassed Angry

I like the zipper bag idea with the nail polishes. I loved doing my nails all the time at that age and they can use the zipper bag as a change purse or whatever they want when they are finished.

You could find some bear themed fleece and make them a blanket or throw pillow. Or you could find out his favorite sports team and do the same with that theme.

I have also been recommending marble magnets all over the place but it's because they're so easy to make and personalize!
