1  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help reading a pattern. on: August 05, 2013 10:21:49 AM
You crochet into the space, treating it like the top of a very large stitch. If the pattern had wanted you to crochet into the individual chains, it wouldn't have defined it as a space. Smiley

Spam away! I was going to say the hair is my favorite part... but the teeny jacket! Eeeee. Lovely job, as always.

This is great. Nice font work.

I'm rewatching, too, just in case they ever get around to filming those new episodes I keep hearing about...
4  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Allons-y! Doctor Who Blackwork on: December 23, 2012 05:32:14 PM

This was a Christmas present for one of my bestest, oldest friends who shares my love of Doctor Who. She's already opened it, so now I can share it with the interwebs!

I drew this pattern the old-fashioned way... with a pencil and graph paper and a lot of references. (I am eternally grateful to fellow Whovian crafters who led the way by stitching up their own versions of such iconic images.) Throw in a classic font and border and ta-da! Doctor Who Blackwork.

The frame was a last-minute decision, as I had a few choices and only one fit... a dinged-up white frame I had gotten on clearance. So I painted it TARDIS blue (because you know I already had the paint on hand) and decided it was meant to be.

Thanks for looking!

Psst, my partner (rantyhippie) has received and posted pics in the Gallery, but I am lacking terribly important feedback. Wink

It was me! I made the crown by crocheting sock yarn over pipe cleaners. A little fiddly, but I think it turned out cute and it was definitely fun to make. It's obviously flat in the picture, I didn't want it to get smushed when I sent it!

I'm glad everything got to you safely!  Grin

I sent Saturday! Yay!

After getting the terribly important flu, I am finally able to post pictures! I was hoping to get some lovely shots of my medals glistening in the sun, but alas, the weather is simply not cooperating. Surely it knows how important I am? And yet it is still cloudy! The audacity. I received from RantyHippie and everything was just perfect!

First, a distinguished banner/wall-hanging bearing my important title: Princess Von FancyPants. I think I might frame it, but I haven't decided yet.

And a close-up...

I love embroidered toile, always. Fabulous.

Then came all of my lovely wearables, with which to declare my importantness.

I'm number 1! I'm number 1!

Finally, the pièce de résistance! Gorgeous jewelry and fabulous medals! I am obsessed with old costume jewelry, so these are perfect for me. The heart earrings are so sweet, too! J'adore! (I've decided to speak French. It is because I am important, and can switch languages whenever I feel like it.)

Thank you so much! These pictures simply don't do all of these fabulously important things justice.

I have received! My extremely important partner had her elite carrier pigeons deliver my package to my door before the snow hit Texas. I have not yet peeked at the fabulosity inside, but I am sure it will be amazing.

Dearest Cackle, the monkeys came with only the most respectable references. The head monkey is close personal friends with David Schwimmer, after their time spent together on Friends. Several monkeys were formerly involved in the space program! However, despite my assistant's careful screening, I believe I did end up with one of Elphaba's monkeys. It is not playing well with others. Now excuse me, I need to ring someone to fetch the shipment of bananas that just came in.
