1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / A Freehanded Octopus Blanket on: March 02, 2011 06:48:48 PM
I made this for a friend's baby shower using super bulky yarn and a 10mm hook for the base and the seaweed and worsted weight yarn with a 5mm hook for the octopus. I had an idea of what I wanted, so I just went for it. I am pleased with the results; though, if I had to do it over, I would have added some bubbles.

Complete

In progress

I used the application of the pieces to the base to better define curves in the tentacles and seaweed. I was careful to sew through the stitches, so the back is solid blue.

This stuff is all so awesome. My DC# said that my package arrived safely. I hope it's not lying to me!

YAY! I'm so glad the deadline was extended. I have all the materials and books in, but I seriously overestimated the amount of crafting time I would have this semester.

Crafting part came in last night. Time to take down a small.

My large feels like it's taking forever. But with 40 hours of work and 40 hours of internship a week, I guess I haven't been devoting as much time to it as I would have liked.

What's funny is, if I had received the Twilight one 3 days ago, I would have readily agreed. But 2 days ago, at 9:45pm, I decided to give Twilight a shot since my sister was insistent enough to lend the book to me and not take it back until I finished. At 3:00am, I finished the book, immediately went to Wal-Mart and bought the sequel and the blu-ray Director's Cut of the movie, then watched the movie until 5:30am. It's annoying that I like it so much, but I guess Twilight can't help that it fits my love of cheesy romances so perfectly.

Text: I think Twilight is useless and boring.
Back: I'm tired of hearing about it, seeing it everywhere.

Text: If I could do nothing but take pictures for the rest of my life, I could die happy! I'd even give up sex.

I'm super excited. I've already started crafting. Grin
10  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Basic Humanoid Amigurumi Pattern on: July 12, 2009 09:49:14 AM
So, just making sure I understand right, you make the full leg, then go back in the right color and do this, correct?

And those ears really are super awesome. *steals them away into the night*

No, no! You make the boots first. Now that I'm home, I can consult my notebook for exactly what I did.

For the legs, I started with the boot color and followed the pattern with the following changes:

Rnd 14: FLO sc around
Rnd 15: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 3 sc, repeat
Rnd 16: 2sc in first sc, sc in next 2 sc, repeat
Rnd 17: sc around (I did this in an accent color)
Finish off. The boot is done.

Then you go back to Rnd 14 with the leg color and put it in BLO. Then just continue with the pattern for Rnd 15, etc. as usual.

I had a little difficulty finding exactly where I should connect my yarn for the BLO row, so when I start my FLO row, I use 2 stitch markers, one in the FL to count my rounds as usual and one in the BL to show where to connect the yarn when I go back to it.
