1 Electric Guitar Cake in Dessert by mingaling88 on: February 07, 2011 04:33:02 PM
Here is the electric guitar cake that I made for my boyfriends 23rd birthday! I just drew my own template onto pieces of paper and cut the cake from the templates! It was pretty easy and the best part was decorating the cake Smiley and seeing the smile on my boyfriends face!

2 **High Waisted Black Ruffle Skirt** in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by mingaling88 on: June 21, 2010 03:07:06 PM
Hey everybody!

I just made this high waisted skirt yesterday, and I gotta say that i'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

Here's what I used:

Three 3XL t-shirts (I bought mine at Michaels)
Black thread
Wide non-rolling elastic waistband

Here's a picture of what I modeled my skirt after:

One of the HUGE 3XL shirts that was used for the skirt:

Tracing the lining of the skirt that the ruffles will be sewn onto:

One of the long strips used for the ruffles: (6inches wide)

Sewing the ruffles onto the skirt: (I just eyeballed the pleats!)

Attaching the casing for the waistband and then placing the elastic waistband inside: (the elastic waistband is 1.5inches wide)

And the finished product!

I'll post pics of myself wearing this skirt soon! The skirt sits right at my waist and looks great with a thick belt Smiley (Just like the pic!)

I hope you guys like it! I had alot of fun making it! Smiley

3 **HOT POP TAB PURSE** in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mingaling88 on: September 03, 2005 06:15:13 PM
Well here it is...this purse took me over 4 hours to make...sigh pinning on the pop tabs takes a loooong time but it's so worth it in the end!! I love this new purse and hopefully you will too!!

PS... I recycled the left over poptabs instead of throwing them out..yay for the environment!!

So start out with a bag (hand made) or any tote bag will work...
Then buy or collect some pop tabs...i used 180 pop tabs for my bag

Pin them on

Then start sewing!! To make sure that the pop tabs didn't fall off i sewed the top of the tab and the bottom of the bag to make them more stable on the purse.

Then sew your bag together and voila!!!

I love it, i took it to the mall and got lots of compliments!

I think you should make one too... Cheesy

5 Re: Finished my first purse...[Edited] in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mingaling88 on: July 26, 2005 08:31:40 AM
And this is my first post, too! Cheesy

So I made this little purse:

I just kind of winged it with a pair of old blue jeans & some left over material... Then, dh asked me if it was for our 7 yr old dd. My response was "no - it's for me!"

Now I'm off to drool at other people's purses...

Thanks for looking!

edited note: Often when I can't sleep I'll go back & change or fix something... so after staring at the purse for a while it now has the slim red band of fabric added to it,and I moved the flower to the left... I also added a bright yellow lining on the inside, but had troubles taking a picture that didn't look like a flash of sunlight.

Hey that's cute! I have some bamboo handles too and im thinking of making another brown hobo bag or something for the summer, but this is a good idea for using the bamboo handles! Good job littlenecy!

heres a bag i made...i kinda followed the tut..and i taped computer paper together..and made a moon..but i didnt keep it moon style..i cut it straight at the points instead of the roundness a moon has at the end...
(plus i found those handle chains already made...lookin just like that..i did nothing but sew the chains to the purse...i have like 5 more...hmm i guess that means 5 more metallic bags...i also bought other color metallic fabric..!!)

my family is in love with it..i plan on giving it to my sister cause she always tries and steal/borrow...my metallic bags that i BOUGHT...

just to let everyone know...ive been researching fall 2005...and metallic bags are still gonna be in...so make investing in some nice metallic fabric will do you good cause it wont be out of style anytime soon!

Wow that is so nice! I'm glad you understood my tutorial, i wasn't sure if it was a good tut or a bad one..lol! I like the metal strap it adds extra bling to the bag! And yeah metallic stuff is really in for the fall...invest in some shoes and other stuff!

10 Tutorial: CHANEL Knockoff Bag..Picture Heavy ^__^ in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by mingaling88 on: July 06, 2005 01:54:59 PM
I saw this chanel purse on the internet, it looked easy to make so I made one haha. Here are the pictures and the tutorial..

This is the REAL CHANEL PURSE..

Here are some instructions!

Print out a logo (chanel, whatever u want) then cut it out, pin it on some fabric and cut it out again.

I used pink and black broadcloth, i used fleece to make the puse look quilted and puffy.

Here's my patter..i taped pieces of rectangular paper together then pinned in onto the fabrics.

The fabrics after cutting.

Arrange the fabrics on top of each other, then pin together. Cut out long black straps.

Here's how i arranged the fabrics, the pink fabrics sandwich the black fabric, then they go on top of the fleece.

Sew the straps (choose your width)

Take off the first pink layer, pin the black straps to the black fabric. Then place the pink fabric back on top. Then sew the top of the bag.

Flip the fabrics around and then the straps should stick out. Then pin the sides together and sew them.

Sewing the sides..

Serge or zig zag stitch the sides so they won't fray.

Here's the hard part...Quilting the bag! To make the squares even you should use a ruler, then draw lines on the back of the pink fabric..don't worry the lines won't show up because the black fabric cover the drawn lines! (I used chalk)

Sew along the lines..once your finished sewing draw lines on the other half of the bag (you don't have to quilt the other half of the bag if you don't want to!)

Here's a picture of the bag so far, I quilted both sides of the bag, then I finally sewed down the BLACK fabric to the pink fabric (so you won't see the drawn lines!)

THE FUN PART..

Here's the fun part..Sewing on the LOGO!

Decide where you want the logo..then pin it onto the bag

Close up of the logo

Sew the logo on

Here's the FINISHED BAG!! You can add the black triangle on if you want (do it before you sew the sides of the bag together!)

Well that's it! I hope my tutorial was clear...if it doesnt make sense well then..... Huh

Here's my second white chanel like i promised!!!

I'd like some feed back please!

mingaling88!
