I did a flickr mosaic of my squares.  I think I'll be using this layout to join the squares this week.

I'm not very pleased with my first of aprils squares, it doesn't lay very flat and the outside rows were a bit boring, I'll carry on reguardless

I modified April's square to get it to even out a bit.  From my post.

"I did a little change on the pattern.   On Round 8, I do:

Join CB to any 2nd sc of the corner, (ch3, dc, ch3, 2dc) [*7dc, 8tr, 7dc, * (ch3, dc, ch3, 2dc) in corner sc] 3 ties and * to * once more, join to 3rd ch of beg c3.

Then on Round 9, I did the original round 8 as written.

It seemed to even things out better.

Row 5 in the snowflake square is kinda tricky.

Here's a photo of what it looks like up close

After you make the TCL, and chain 5, you kinda bend the chain back, so you can insert the hook back into the top of the TCL. You don't go behind the chain 5. You insert the hook sorta below it into the top TCL stitch.

I hope this helps.

5  Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ OCT in Crochetalongs by yellowduckie on: October 21, 2008 05:10:33 PM
Forgot to post sept's filler.  It's a popcorn square

I think the camo isn't the best color to use with it, but it's the base for this afghan.

And here is october's square, which I really liked even with deciding what extra rows to add.

I found the orange yarn a nicer color to work with then I thought it would be.

Now, I'll be deciding on what to use for a filler for october.

I finished september's square.

I made it smaller, ch11 instead ch17 at the start, because it was just too big.  If anyone wants to know how, I'm happy to share the adjustments.

I plan to do a square amber waves called for my filler.

Well I could not figure it out, so I charted it:

At least according to my chart, it's 17 sc per side.  I have the last side (the top of the square) give me the most problems finding a place for number 17, but I was able to do it.

If anyone find anything wrong with it, let me know.

Btw, someone on ravelry found one other correction:

In outside round 4:

instead of:

"hdc in ea of next 3 dc,"

she thought it should be:
"hdc in next dc, ch 1, skip next dc, hdc in ea of next 3 dc,"
