32  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Nappy Wallet *edited to include a "sort-of" tute on: February 22, 2011 08:12:21 PM
After getting a small stroller, I needed something I could just grab & go with a couple of nappies & wipes.
I saw a few nappy wallets here on Craftser, so here's my take on a nappy wallet.

*Here's what I posted in the 50 things thread*
It's sort of between A4 & A5 for the base.

I just layed a nappy & the wipes container on a sheet of newspaper &  got a rectangle 17" x 11.5" (inches) for the outer. 2 pieces needed plus I used a layer of calico bewteen them.
For the two pockets I cut 11.5" x 6.5". I cut 4 pieces

I sewed the long edges of the pockets together to make a tube, turned inside out, ironed then topstiched. Then I placed the pockets where I wanted them on the inner piece or the main part & attched on 1 long side only. Then put the other main piece facing  the pockets. Sew around the outside leaving a gap to turn. Turn & iron, then topstitch. Attach whatever fastenings you want. I used velco because it's the quickest & there was some on my sewing table

If it's not clear enough let me know, I can make a tutorial because a friend has asked me to make her a wallet too
33  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies / Wipes Case with sort-of tute on: February 22, 2011 08:09:16 PM
A wipes case for a friend who's expecting at Easter, I saw these on sale for $30 at a kids market so I decided to make my own with stuff in my stash.

All I did was use a travel wipes case & glue some wadding over the "clip top" then I used 2 pieces of cotton print material & hot glued it to the bottom & top of the case. Taking care not to glue the case shut. I then used an exacto knife to trim the excess. Then I hot glued the ribbon around the edge.
34  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Coffee roll-up on: February 22, 2011 07:49:47 PM
A friend of mine who loves tea wallets wanted something to keep her coffee sachets in & this is what I came up with.

It's similar to a crayon roll, I'm not 100% happy with, just need to tweak the pattern a bit.
35  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Dance Shoe Bags on: February 22, 2011 07:45:32 PM
So my daughter started dancing lessons at the same school as a friend of ours & she was willing to give us her outgrown uniform for a trade of bags to keep her shoes in.

They are A5 size, fully lined & have a drawstring.
I used pale pink cordoury for the outer & pale pink cotton with white polkadots for the inner.
I used the font on my embroidery machine & the bird pattern is from Urban Threads
36  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Placemat help please......? on: February 14, 2011 03:02:53 PM
I'm making a set of 8 placemats for a present. Now I have batting I could use but I'd rather use it for another project. I have a lot of towels & towelling material. Would 1 layer be enough or would I need 2? I have quilters cotton for the top & bottom layer

TIA  Grin
37  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Slippers, Scarf, Blanket & dish/wash cloths on: February 10, 2011 05:36:15 PM
Here's a few of my latest crochet projects

Slippers made from purple fluffy yarn, also has silver flecks through it.
The band is multicoloured feathers yarn.
I started off with a pattern but it was too confusing after the frist round so I made it how I thought it should go.

Granny square blanket
Made with beige & off white acrylic yarn for my mum. It's about the width of a double bed.
Here's the edging

It took me over 80 hours over 7 months to complete, I won't be making another of these for a while!

3-2-1 ruffle scarf ( on Ravelry) I edited the pattern a bit because it wasn't wide enough
Dish/wash cloths, just crochet squares with a hanging loop, I made 8 of these in total with 1 partialy used ball of yarn.

Thanks for looking
38  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / First Tea wallets on: February 10, 2011 05:28:20 PM
So I started out with some scraps & decided to make a tea wallet, and it came out like this

Then I decided to kill 2 birds with 1 stone & made my first machine embroidery project. I got the pattern from urban threads & made another tea wallet with scraps of fabric for a friend. (the inside is the same pink material)

Thanks for looking
