1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Watercolor Stencil Portrait + TUTORIAL on: July 31, 2011 10:23:44 PM
Everyone's versions look great!

I've been trying this but I've had a few issues - any help appreciated Smiley

My first was the masking fluid (brand Windsor and Newton) was really thick. Almost too thick to brush on and still be able to control where it went - ended up with blobs everywhere. I ended up tipping out the top 1" in the bottle and giving it a REALLY good shake, which improved things some. What should the consistency be like? (I wonder if it's too cold in the room I was painting in?)

Second, the masking fluid pulls the paper too Sad I've just ordered a higher quality paper. Maybe I didn't let it dry enough? Very frustrated and wanting this to work so badly!

I tried this yesterday with Windsor and Newton masking fluid, but when I pulled off the masking fluid it took some of the paper as well and ruined the picture!  Undecided Does anyone know why that happened?

I'm not in the US sorry  Sad but here you can buy them in most big craft department type stores. Would Michaels carry them? How about here: http://www.oldenglishcrackers.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=4&products_id=91, $4.25 for 25 snaps in the US?
