Ok I have a question. I promise I will try one batch of regular soap before I add any fancy ingredients to it. But I have absolutely no use, zero, zilch, nada, nil, for unscented, uncolored soap bars.

So for my second batch if I want to make it pretty, what would you recommend for an easy beginner additive? It's been said that florals are some of the worst, what's the easiest, least problematic scent I can add? And what about coloring, is it safe to just add a bit of food coloring? Exfoliants like poppy seeds or ground oatmeal? I would appreciate the advice of the experts giving me a list of "Safe for relative beginners" ingredients, and also "Stay away from these until later" ingredients.

Thanks thanks thanks!

That doesn't sound unreasonable as a starting point, but then again you haven't said how you plan to spin it. For a pound of bulky, you'd be getting paid well, but for a pound of laceweight, you'd be getting less than sweatshop wages.

BAHahaha! The attention to detail is awesome, the little chocolate sprinkle pubes and clear icing spooj are hilarious!

What perfect timing, I was JUST thinking about how I wanted to try soap making. I can't wait to try this, thanks so much for the tutorial!

I'm back in action, baby! This week's skeins are wool blends, with hemp, recycled sari silk, angelina, metallic, and mohair locks. I'm keeping this first one for myself.
