31  Re: HARRY POTTER GALLERY (Part 1) in The Swap Gallery by natashafatale on: May 13, 2005 07:17:42 PM
I got my package long ago, but I'm finally getting pics up. Behold! I got a giant pillow, handmade notebook/journal, a gryffindor purse, matching gryffindor colored bracelet and keychain, pen, Ron postcard, Fred & George iron-on transfer, and 4 "winged beasts" note cards. SO AWESOME! I have to say I think the notecards are my favorite. Thank you thank you thank you so much, Spicey!

I'm totally in, if this swap happens. I've got a lot of time on my hands lately, so I'd be willing to organize it if you're nervous, Lorie. I've been wanting to try out organizing. PM me and we can talk about it.

For those wondering what to make, check out my "balls" t-shirt. Even though the movie itself has little craft potential, you could take a movie still and slap it on just about anything:

Whoo! I got my stuff today! I am officially addicted to swapping now. Here's my loot:

I got a book on beaded bracelets, some cute little magnets, a heart shaped eraser, beady picture frame, rose, keychain, and my name & initials embroidered. I already pinned my name to the bag I'm taking out of town this weekend. Thanks Jen!

Yours should be there any day now.

36  Re: Jaeger "Foxy" fur-trim coat--Any brave souls care to join me? in Knitalongs by natashafatale on: March 08, 2005 03:27:42 PM
Okay guys, here's my oh so exciting update. I've got the back panel completely finished, and the front left panel done not counting the collar addition.

My gauge is way off, so I kind of had to do some finagling with the pattern. I just chopped out an entire 10 lines of the pattern on each piece so they'd match. I hope it works! I tried it on as a little half-vest and it seems to fit fine so far. Whoo!

37  scrap t-shirt = Zach Braff "Balls" Garden State halter top in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by natashafatale on: February 24, 2005 01:26:47 PM
It's not sewn together yet because I'm not sure what kind of back to put on it, but here's the prototype of my first ever t-shirt reconstruction:

This is coming along much faster than I thought it would. (I'm double-stranding both yarns.) Progress so far on the back panel:

39  Got my yarn yesterday in Knitalongs by natashafatale on: February 16, 2005 09:09:35 AM
It's a good thing I decided to buy my yarn at the store instead of ordering it over the net. Not only was Homespun on sale at Joanns for $4 a ball, but the color I wanted turned out to be really ugly so I changed my mind. I went with pink body/black fur:

I'm having lots of issues with gauge, though. I'm thinking I should have sprung for the $140 worth of fur it suggested, because double stranding this Nordica stuff is having strange results. I already had to start over 3 times because what I thought was going to be 25" wide across the bottom turned out to be 30". I guess 2 gauge swatches weren't enough  Angry (But that's why I'm making this a year in advance, right?)

40  Re: Muffs, with added tutorial in Crochet: Completed Projects by natashafatale on: January 10, 2005 11:48:06 AM
...I made the flowers like this:
1.  ch 4; join with sl st to form a ring
2.  ch 1; sc 10 times in ring; sl st to beginning ch
3.  (ch 2; sk 1 sc; sl st in next sc) around, which should give you five little ch-2 loops
4.  sl st into the first ch-2 loop; ch 2 and then 4 dc in the loop; ch 2 and sl st in the same loop to finish the petal; sl st into next ch-2 loop and repeat procedure.
5.  Can you find the skipped sc back in step three?  It should be at the bottom center of each of the five petals you've just made.  You want to sl st into the back loop of that skipped sc (or frankly, poke into anything in roughly the right spot and the flower won't be too warped) then ch 3, and sl st in the next skipped sc.  You should end up with five loops again, just as in step 3, except they will be ch-3 loops.
6.  sl st into the first ch-3 loop; ch 2 and then 7 dc in the loop; ch 2 and sl st in the same loop to finish the petal; sl st into next ch-3 loop and repeat procedure.  Finish off and weave in ends.

I'm just learning how to crochet and I want to try making your little flowers (they're much cuter than the lame flowers in all the how-to books I have) but I don't know how to read the crochet-lingo patterns yet. On a scale of just-beginner to advanced, how hard are these to make?
