1  My first woven scarves in Weaving: Completed Projects by natashafatale on: August 19, 2009 01:01:51 PM
I got an Ashford Knitters Loom yesterday and I've already made 2 scarves. I'm obsessed! I didn't need another hobby!

The first one (green) is way too stiff because I crammed the yarn down too hard, but the pink one is perfect. It's cashmere, silk, and a few strands of tweed. The yardage really seemed to stretch a lot further than it does with knitting, which is good because I can make scarves with all my tiny balls of handspun that are too small for anything else.

Gorgeous yarns, everyone! I've only got one skein photographed at the moment. I'll cheat and put the rest up next week, since the camera is upstairs.

3  OH HAI! "Keyboard-cat" knitted hand puppet in Knitting: Completed Projects by natashafatale on: July 09, 2009 04:26:27 PM
I made this for a Keyboard Cat art contest. Kevin Pereira, cohost of Attack of the Show on G4TV, loves lolcats and asked viewers to make keyboard-cat-related art for his personal collection.

This is my entry, even though it's kind of stretching the definition of art.

I barely made it in on time this week, as usual. Here's a couple new-ish ones:

Whoa, Jazz, that's some serious spinnage. Nice work. Kathleenalice, I love your colors.

My newest obsession is with samplers, and tiny things that all come together to form a big thing. I've been making these Petit Fours from every fiber in my arsenal:

and I've only got one of these "Fiber palettes" so far, but I'm planning to make more as soon as my dyeing frenzy is over:

Why is it that you always have the most great ideas and the gumption to get them done... when the supplies you need are still in the mail and not set to arrive until next week?!

Ooo, gothchics, you almost gave me a heart attack. I glanced at that picture of your batts all smooshed together and I was like "WHOA! That's the most gorgeous corespun I've ever seen!!" I want to try to make a yarn that looks like that! Hehe, I love your first 2 yarns too.

Here's a couple of skeins I made for a "cable-along" on Ravelry.

I took two thick-and-thin supercoils and plied them together

This one is just two regular 2-plies wound back together. I'm weaving this one into an art piece, I may post pictures of the finished project if I get it done soon.

Great stuff, everyone! I especially like jazzturtle's squiggly yarn and pmpknpunk's navajo ply!

Here's a couple of mine from this week, all made from swap fibers:

I barely made it, but it's still Friday!

From left to right: 1. Core-spun from a blended batt of wool, hemp, angelina, recycled silk, bamboo, soy silk, some mystery fiber, and embellished with faux pearls, faux crystals, and shell fragments (my favorite of the three) 2. Wool & nylon blend coated in 4 neon-colored threads 3. Self-stripe single spun from random bits of fiber I received in a Ravelry swap.
