1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: help with draping? on: August 10, 2011 09:28:31 AM
I would first baste the upper edge in place, and then use the method described by Ludi.

Or, you can sew the lining to the main fabric using a regular seam, then add understitching... maybe not as nice looking, but perhaps faster and easier.
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make an "oops-I've-cut-it-too-short" half circle skirt longer on: August 10, 2011 09:22:41 AM
Maybe just re-arrange your fabric as it was originally laid out for cutting - as if you were about to re-fuse the cut edge to the rest of the fabric.
Then measure the correct length, cut it out, and sew your new strip to the bottom of the dress. You could also do this using a contrasting fabric or something, and make it a design element.

Or, you can always attach a long ruffle to the bottom of the skirt.

Can I just say, WOW this is amazing! It looks like you stepped off a fashion plate. This definitely rocks.

does anyone know if I can watch it in Australia, or are we going to be YEARS behind.
I adore this show.
I tried the links and I can see pics of the finished garments but not watch the show.

If you look at Anya's Q&A, she says that she made her first garment in 2008. Maybe she meant to say she learned to sew four years ago instead of four months, lol. But that top... is it just me or was it covered in gapes? Am I just crazy here, seeing bad fit where it's actually good? I don't know, something is off.

I think Bert will do well obviously, and some interesting things might also come from Fallene and Viktor, IMHO. That dress that Viktor made in the first challenge - I want it!

Thanks Teresa!

Also, update: he officially likes it, but as a place in which to be pet instead of a place to sleep.

He arrived this morning! He stepped into his bed but so far he prefers the closet and under the human bed. Someday he`ll like it, I just know it

His name is Cosmos, and I feel the need to post pictures of him absolutely everywhere:

I have received a lovely broomstick lace kit from ArpilInAutumn.

First of all, the crazy box it came in:

Almost a metre long! And you`ll see why...

There's three balls of 100% cotton yarn (mmmmm... cotton), a large of amount of very pretty pink acrylic, a pre-started sample, some regular crochet hooks, a huge a$$ knitting needle, and one GIANT NEEDLE TO END ALL NEEDLES. It was actually hand made! I believe this needle, about 60cm long, was the reason for the long box.

Extras!

A note pad to magnet on to my fridge, and some sticky notes. So cute!

Thank you for everything April! I look forward to finishing the sample and more Smiley

We're getting a new kitty in a day or so, and I had a thought: what if he doesn't want to sleep on the human bed?
Better make a comfy alternative, stat!

So I got a cardboard box, a pillow, some fabric, a piece of soft faux fur, and my trusty spray glue. Then cat bed was born.

I hope he likes it! I'll see if I can post pictures later of his reactions Cheesy
