21  Fencing Helm painted up like a Strawberry in Completed Projects by Strawberryh on: July 27, 2011 12:37:05 AM
I have been very busy getting ready for Pennsic War Al though this is not my first and I am getting up there in years to start new and strenuous things. I have taken up fencing at age 39 and have been doing it out side in the horrible heat. I fished my husbands and my Fencing Garb but I wanted my Helm to let the world know who was under the mask. That is a Chaperon on top it is a hood that is rolled up from the face hole with a liripipe. If fencers were to wear Helms and masks during the middle ages they would have been decorated and gaudy.

I intend to Paint my Husbands so it looks like he has a purple mask on like he is the Teen Age Mutant Ninja Turtle Donatello. Just because we can. We are a strange lot us SCA-ers

I received from goldfishpollywog- in my Mini Farmville swap and the boys were there helping me with the mail.
that is George and Fred. They were eager to see what had arrived.

They were real careful helping me open them so that they could make the wrapping look like it hasn't been touched I think they may want to use it to play a trick on some one later.

Well looky here It is the rose from my wists list it is a measuring tape, so you might say it is a rose that really measures up.  Then again you might not say that.  My Mystery gift is a Gnome from the summer collection. My farm has a line of gnomes that have become a fence. Smiley I love gnomes. what more this is my first hoop it is going on the wall that has my painted page from the Book Of Gnomes that I received in the Gnome swap.

The boys enjoyed playing with the measuring tape and chasing the bug on the leaf.
And Look it also has the back of the hoop that is something blue.

Tygermane's Mischief twins arrived  this week. They are Fred and George

They set about making them selves right at home my being their normal curiosity selves and even meeting some of the locals

And I can't turn my back on them even for a minute because they get into trouble.
Here they discovered the ships and battle axes  and were going after one of them they wouldn't tell me which.

After that they settled down hanging with my Son Brad I think they though he was Harry Potter.

27  Book making a leather cover in Completed Projects by Strawberryh on: June 19, 2011 10:29:48 PM
I made another leather bound Coptic book this one was for a swap. The receiver likes Peacocks so I cut different color leather and glued them together (with fabric glue) and then added it to the cover. I chose the black leather cord to bring out the blue even or with its sharp contrast. This is the first time I have tried to make a peacock feather and they are harder then I would have thought.

28  Needle books for home made glass headed pins in Needlework: Completed Projects by Strawberryh on: June 19, 2011 10:25:01 PM
I made these for my friends two best friends. We can't stand waiting for holidays to give each other gifts so we have started our own not so secret pals swaps. almost every month we pick a day make up a holiday or use one that already exists. Like Lord of the rings day, or the day Genghis Khan died. I made the Red one to have a Yert door pattern, and the other one is the Elvan leaf from LOTR.

Here is a shot of the set of pins for the LOTR fan these are veil pins for medieval reenactment. I lamp worked the heads.

29  My 1st Hoopla- Farmville Disco tree in Needlework: Completed Projects by Strawberryh on: June 19, 2011 10:18:01 PM
I made this for the Farmville swap It is a disco tree that is ready to harvest. I made it with my Free motion foot on my Viking. then sewed on the Disco balls which were a necklace from the party store that I cut up.  I then also hand stitched the silver swirls  and the felt trunk on . I used machine embroidery thread for this whole project.

30  Blue Gold stone (monks stone) Necklace in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Strawberryh on: June 19, 2011 10:12:22 PM
I made this necklace around the Blue Monks stone beads I thought the shapes were to neat to pass up and come up with this design to accommodate there unusual hole configuration., I used Crystal beads with a mirrored peacock finish on them in two different sizes. Then added the slightest bit of color with the bright seed beads
