1  Mini Shrimp made from Drinking Straws in Completed Projects by blitzkriegbetty on: March 31, 2010 09:21:28 PM
I was stumbling one day and came across a tutorial ( www.creativeblythe.com/shrimp.htm ) for making shrimp out of bendy straws, and finally got around to trying it and was surprised that my first attempt actually looked like it was supposed to Cheesy I plan to make a few and set them up in a little faux fish tank (well..it's on my list, at least)

The body will take a little practice for me to get it *perfect*. I'm still tickled with it, wish I could take credit for being that clever.

(excuse the dirty desk >.> )

For those interested I got this finished and put up for when the bf got home today.

I ended up going with Acrylic paint on the cup/knife(then sprayed with a clear gloss) and then using the acrylic-to-fabric paint additive I picked up at Hobby Lobby. (side note: I was worried when i saw the white additive mixing with the perfect color red-that i had spent 30 minutes getting just right-and making it look too pink, but it turned out just fine). The gel blood drips on the mirror were just something fun i picked up in Dollar Tree. Not including the towels (and the drill bits my dad messed up drilling holes in the stainless steel knife so I could mount it on the wall XD) it cost me about $30 and a few hours ^_^

(i put part of a boot print on the rug to make it extra creepy =)
