1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / question(s) about using fleece instead of batting? on: September 13, 2010 07:35:06 AM
I'm such a newb at quilting. I'm working on my first quilt and I am thinking about using fleece instead of regular batting.  Has anyone done this? Would this affect the quality of the quilt? Can I still quilt the thing or should I just tie the the layers together? any suggestions and inputs would greatly help!
2  FIBER ARTS / Dyeing: Discussion and Questions / funny smell? on: February 24, 2009 08:12:48 PM
hi all, i'm not really sure where to post this.  i recently got some thrift-store sweater so i can play around with dying them with kool-aid.  my problem is that after the yarn dries, it has this funky smell... the wool is a merino and alpaca blend and i used the dying method from knitty [http://knitty.com/ISSUEfall02/FEATdyedwool.html]. after it's done, there is the kool-aid smell, but also this stale smell too.

my question is am i doing something wrong and the smell is from the method? or is it just yarn? and how do i get rid of it?

thanx in advance!
