1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Wall hanging - embroidery on felt --how to?? on: June 15, 2010 12:29:03 PM
I'm machine embroidering on felt and I want to hang these on the wall.  Very casual, nothing formal at all, as it's holiday stuff.  So, how would you do it so that it's sturdy and cute?
I've considered just outlining it in rick rack, and then gluing to a cardboard backing, nice and neat.  But, I'd like it to be just a bit better than that.  Any other ideas are really welcome!
2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Glow Worm on: May 25, 2010 12:38:47 PM
Okay, so he's NOT anatomically correct as a glow worm, or any worm according to my husband, but my swap partner liked him!  I "crafted a song" after shuffling all the songs on my Ipod, and came up with "Glow Worm" sung by the Mills Brothers, a swing music/vocal jazz group from a long time ago - you can search them on You Tube and see them performing this song in a 1966 video.
Anyway, I just had to make this for my partner, and yes his mouth is crooked, not perfect on purpose.  I wanted him to have just a slight edginess.
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Decoupage recipe box, 4 pics on: May 25, 2010 12:28:07 PM
I had no idea where else to put this, so I hope it's appropriate.  I did this for my 1st package in the Make a Friend swap.  I wasn't totally satisfied with it - there are wrinkles, and the Mod Podge isn't smooth as glass - but I'm sort of proud of the design itself.  I tried to incorporate some Louisiana and Texas food themes as well.
I certainly enjoyed making it, and have been scouring magazines and cutting like a madwoman so I can now make ME one!

4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Completed Projects / Sewing Birds Embroidery on Machine Cover on: March 24, 2010 06:58:06 PM

I made this for the I love to sew swap.  The design is from emblibrary.com under sewing.  It's one of my favorites.

6  SEWING IN GENERAL / Machine Embroidery: Discussion and Questions / Embroider on Faux Suede? on: November 17, 2008 01:36:06 PM
Anyone ever machine embroidered on faux suede?  If so, could you share some tips?  I'm wanting to make some Couch Caddies and totes from this nice faux ultrasuede I got from the Fabric & Notions co-op a couple years ago, and I'm not sure how to go about it.
