Looks to me like we all knocked ourselves out, especially for package 3.  Amazing stuff being posted here.  Quilt wisted, for sure.

That wreath is amazing.  Now I know what I can do with mine instead of just spray paint it.  The knitting done by DV is so top notch.  The Art Noveau I absolutely love!  The earrings casey made are wisted, and the butterfly headband!
The cupcake themed package was beyond cute.

Thanks for the compliments on my messenger bag - and yes, the embroidery was all done by machine.  My partner does great hand embroidery but not me!
And, in her defense about not posting pics -- I know that she is extremely bogged down right now in both a beyond huge swap and a new job - so it's no wonder she has not been able to post.

Since my partner received 2 weeks ago and has not posted photos, I will go ahead and post the crafted items I sent.  What I didn't take pictures of are a small Christmas type tree which I spray painted black so she can decorate for Halloween, and a resin candle holder I saw with both argyle and fleur de lis design on it that I knew she'd like.
Here is everything else.

First, a laptop/messenger bag.  This thing is HUGE.  It's a McCalls pattern.  It has a long adjustable strap.  I used denim and quiliting cotton.

This is the outside of the bag under the flap, a panel with plenty of pockets.  It also has an inner zip pocket and the whole back is a large pocket for papers.

Then I did a wall hanging, as she indicated she needed things for her craft room wall:

Finally, I embroidered these Halloween designs - they are called Scary Windows, by Dru's Designs, found online.  I framed them, but she can remove them and sew them to whatever, or use them in some other way.  They are 4x4.

Ready to wist?  I received the best package 3 from Nostephot - this is incredible as it scratches several things off my "to sew" list!  I love the colors, and she did such a great job!  Thanks sooooo much Candace - I LOVE IT ALL!!!  Like others, I was having a troubled week and this totall cheered me up!!  And she has offered to send me the remaining fabric so I can make more cool kitchen stuff!!!

Up first is the towels and fabric bowls!   If anyone in my house uses these towels to clean up a kool aid spill they will be beaten, lol!

Next we have a lovely very needed ironing pad for my craft room.  I can roll it up and tie to to take to classes!  It's just the right size, too!

OVEN MITTS!!  I should post a picture of my present ones.  No, I shouldn't make you go "eeewww".  These are fabulous and oh so needed!!

And, finally, the best of all --- NOW I CAN REMOVE THE MAIL SORTER FROM MY WIST!!  This thing is fabulous.  It's made so well.  There are places for pens at the top, and the top pocket is different from the rest, so it can hold things that might fall out of the others.  I'm so sick of mail on my kitchen table, so this is just perfect-o!!

Candace thank you thank you thank you!!  This was very fun, and I was so blessed to have you as a partner and now, friend!

I love the roller derby stuff, and the owl paintings.

I received a package from Nostephot yesterday that blew me away and totally turned my bad day around.  Isn't that what friends are for?  I will post pictures by tonight I hope!!
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Grandma's Buttons Memorial Shadowbox on: August 06, 2010 04:56:48 PM
Oh this is so wonderfully done - I too was crying.  I never knew my grandmothers, but my Mom died 2 years ago.  I took some of her broken crystal jewelry and swapped The Sapphire Moon here on Craftster some fabric, and she re-did it all into two complete sets for my sister and me.  My sister was so happy!
When my daughter was in middle school they had to do a project on someone close to them who'd died, and she set a shoebox on end, inside the top as the base, and did a memorial to my Dad.  I still have it proudly displayed.
Then last week in Joann's I struck up a conversation with a lady who was picking quilting cottons.  She had a completed pillow with her and said she did part of the pillow from some of her deceased Mother's clothing.  She was making a quilt using some of it too.  She chose the cheerier fabrics from her Mom's wardrobe, and quilting cottons that matched her Mom's personality.  And she was only using some of her Mom's clothes, otherwise it would be too sad.
It's just so nice to see people doing this - these shadow boxes will become family heirlooms!

I used to own that waistband fabric, but never used it so I gave it away.  One of those slap the forehead moments for sure, seeing that skirt.  It goes with so much!  Totally great skirt!!

Yeah, I think there will be more laes this time.  I did manage to finish mine and have shipped via UPS today.  I can't believe I managed it.  But, I was so grateful I'd thought in advance and took off Friday from work, and worked all day Saturday too.  I just didn't think the one large was going to kick my butt like it did.
This was such a fun swap, but I'm done for a while - no more swaps till next year.  I have so much to sew for my family.  They feel neglected.   And, my sewing machines are smoking hot and need some Technician TLC!

That bag and roll are really nice - and filled with yarn too!  Great job.
