Hi again. Time for another dress. Today was gorgeous again so I took the chance to wear another Spring/Summer dress. I am planing on making a copy of one of the dresses January Jones/Betty Draper wears in one of the earlier episodes but the fabric isn't with me yet.
So I made this in the meantime getting in the Betty mood.

It's a simple fitted bodice, ties at the shoulders with a very very!!! full gathered skirt.
I also made another petticoat to go underneath to maximum Betty poof. This time in red to match the dress of course 


What do you think, would Betty be seen in this?

I made this dress a couple of weeks ago but didn't get a chance to take pictures of it yet. Today was the perfect oportunity as the weather was gorgeous and perfect for a Spring dress.

My husband and I were invited to go to a wedding this weekend. Naturally I needed a new outfit. (Guys have it so easy don't they? As long as they have a good suit and maybe a new shirt every now and then they are always good to go.....)
I used this beautiful teal coloured duchess satin



frankensteined 3 patterns together:

The bodice is New look 6557 view E, the skirt is New look 6917 view D without the waistband and directly attached to the bodice.
Lots of beads for a belt detail that ended up being a head piece in the end.



and in the end it turned out like that all together.

It's been a while since I posted anything on Craftster and think it's time to change that.
I decided to start working on some of the vintage patterns I purchased over the Spring and Summer.
The first project was simplicity 4139, a 1940s design. I absolutely love the style and think I will be making more fromthis pattern in the future.

I used a light cotton lawn in a red floral print and vintage buttons on the front and cuffs.

Hi everyone, I haven't been sewing much for myself lately but now I finally have new pieces to show.
I wanted some high waisted jeans for a while now but couldn't find the right denim. What I could find in my local shops was too heavy especially with Spring/Summer in mind. But last week they finally had a lighter denim in the right colour so I whipped up these:

I decided to not make the front flappy bit for the jeans and instead sew the buttons straight onto the main trousers. Do you think the red buttons look a bit clown-ish? I asked this question on my blog already but would like your opinion as well.

I also made up this simple circle skirt and matching top. I made my own bias binding for the top's neckline, armholes and hem.

I finished this pair of trousers last week. I used McCalls 5592 which was very easy to put together and I love how the trousers turned out. I'll be making them again. I already have some dark denim ready to go.


I lined the pockets with red star print cotton that I had some scraps of, for detail.

I recently made this navy lace dress posted here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=372276.0
When I bought the navy lace, I couldn't pass some black lace on offer in the shop. A couple of weeks ago I went to a gig with mys sister in law and needed a dress to wear. I needed something quite goth without compromising my vintage style. So I made up this dress in the black lace and accessorised it with some vintage brooches to add more detail.

I finished outfit number two as part of the Colette Pattern Spring palette challenge.
I made a button back blouse with red bias binding detail and matching red gabardine high waisted shorts. I might not get a lot of wear out of this in Spring but I'm sure I will come Summer.

A navy lace dress. I am going for a nautical inspired Spring palette as I love all things navy and red, preferably with BIG anchor buttons.
