21  1960s inspired wiggle dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: January 14, 2011 01:40:05 PM
I finished this 1960s inspired dress today. I had the material waiting to be sewn up for some time. I kept the style rather simple to let the fabric stand out more. There are more pictures and information on my blog.
Let me know what you think. I'd like to hear your thoughts. Thank you and have a great weekend everyone. XX

Can't you just see Mad Men's Joanie strutting around in the office in this one? Well maybe for cocktails after work..

22  Playsuits and vintage inspired dresses in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: January 13, 2011 03:20:28 PM
I haven't posted anything here in such a long time so I thought it's about time I get back to craftster and share some of the things I have been making lately. This weeks I have been working on some dresses and playsuits. You can tell I am sooooo done with Winter and ready to work on Summer stock.
Anyways, I hope you enjoy.
This one is more modern/retro looking rather than vintage but I had this fabric in my stash and decided to use it up. I am not overly keen on the print but love the shape of the dress.
This dress I am absolutely in love with. I love the style and print. I adore shirt waist dresses. I think they are my favourite.
Yesterday's project. A little two piece playsuit.

and this one is today's creation. It's a one piece playsuit.
There are a few more pictures of this one on my blog plus loads of other projects I am not going to catch up with on here but I promise to be posting more regularly on Craftster now.
Let me know what you think. I very much appreciate feedback.
Thanks for looking.

23  Hello Dorothy...turquoise gingham dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: May 13, 2010 12:38:31 AM
I made this last week in hope for warmer temperatures here in freezing Britain. Just a little cute turquoise gingham dress with a pleated skirt and matching sash/belt. I also had a few vintage buttons that I randomly arranged on the top.
Not much more to say about it. Enjoy the pictures and please let me know what you think.
Thanks everyone.

and now on a real body:

24  Vintage inspired halter dress, very Rock'n'Roll in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: May 09, 2010 02:00:06 PM
Hi everyone, I am very exited to share this dress with you. My friend Helen needed a dress to wear to a function and asked me to help her out. She wanted a vintage-y polka dot halter dress with a full circle skirt. Of course I am always happy to help when it come to making clothes and went for the challenge. I didn't have a pattern for it so I frankesteined a few bits of one pattern, drafted the halter and the skirt and put it all together. I also made a petticoat for her. Fortunately I had a cut off from an old wedding dress petticoat to use. It's handy to be working in a bridal shop because I get my hands on these things sometimes before they end up in the bin. It saved a lot of cutting out net and tulle and gathering.
Anyway, she came around for a final fitting tonight and absolutely love it. I am just so happy I got to make her exactly what she wanted. As a thank you she let me take some pictures for my blog and craftster.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks for your time.

Doesn't she look stunning?
Oh and please ignore the messy background. That's what my workroom looks like when I am actually working in there.

25  Vintage inspired lime green/ivory and a hint of pink in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: May 02, 2010 09:05:49 AM
I made this dress last week. It's the same pattern as this dress: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=344984.0
I used a very cute lime green and ivory print cotton and some pale pink vintage buttons. I love how summery this is. Perfect for a nice BBQ, beer garden or picnic. Please let me know what you think.

Thanks for your time.

26  Little Spring/Summer tea dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: April 23, 2010 12:36:31 PM
I finished my next little summer dress from one of the printed cottons I bought the other day. I love the details on it. The skirt has little pleats on the front and back, the collar is a nice detail as well as the sash. I probably could have made the bodice in the next size down as I don't seem to fill it quiet but hey, I'll just wear when I eat out. That way I've got room for desert.

This time no vintage hair and make up to go with it. I didn't want to wait until I get to wear it or just take pictures on the mannequin. I hope you like it. Let me know what you think.
Thanks for your time.

27  Vintage inspired floral print spring dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: April 20, 2010 12:53:51 AM
I finished this last week. It's Vogue 8613 view A. I love this pattern. It's my first version of it and I am sure many more will follow. I think the floral print cotton gives it a lovely vintage touch. I hope you like it. It's so comfortable, I have worn it quiet a few times already.

It wasn't as warm as it seems in the pictures that day so I had to wear a shirt underneath.
Let me know what you think.

28  Birthday dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: April 11, 2010 11:26:49 AM
Edit:
Finally the action shot:

Spring has finally sprung here in the UK and I need to get some colourful dresses in my wardrobe. I had this cotton waiting for me to be turned into a dress and this is the result. I finished it on Friday. A little summery halter dress. It's not warm enough yet to wear is on it's own but I found a little cardigan that is perfect with it. It was meant to be huh? I will be wearing it out for my birthday dinner next week with some vintage hair and make up. I'll try to get some pictures. Keep checking my blog.
Anyway, I hope you like it. The pattern I used was new look 6675 view C. Great pattern. Very easy to sew, I can only recommend it. The skirt is almost as full as a circle skirt. Great for vintage inspired sewing.
Let me know what you think.

29  Pencil skirts and summer tops in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: April 07, 2010 01:43:44 PM
I made the blue pencil skirt to wear at the vintage fair two weeks ago. I felt like I need a few good basics for my summer wardrobe. I added nautical buttons to the waistband for detail. I love all things nautical. The skirt is great shape and very comfortable so I made another one in lilac this week and just changed the detail on it. I have seen so many variations of bows on skirts lately on some of the blogs I read that I had to have one myself.
I also made up a few more tops from some fabric scraps I had from previous projects. They go well with the skirts. Just needs to warm up outside now.

I'll get my husband to take pictures of me wearing them. I'll add them later.
Please let me know what you think.
Thanks  Kiss

30  Vintage butterick 5456, floral prints and pin dots in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: March 13, 2010 01:22:32 PM

I have bought a few new vintage patterns on Etsy a couple of weeks ago and finally got around to making a dress from one of them. I used a floral print cotton which looked vintage enough for me. I French-seamed the whole dress. I tried taking pictures of the inside but the inner seams barely show up on the picture. Anyway it was a very easy and straight forward pattern to use and I am thinking about making a few more in different colours/prints for Spring/Summer. I am still missing 3 more buttons for this one. I didnt have enough in the house. I am also thinking about adding a belt.

I also finished 2 shirts last week. They are in a pin dot polycotton in pink and light blue. I used the JJ pattern on Burdastyle but didnt add the rushing to them. I changed the neckline on the pink one. I have seen so many tied blouses lately on some of the blogs I follow, I just had to have one too.

I hope you enjoy the pictures. Thanks for your time.
