1  Vintage pattern (I'm guessing it's mailorder) 4882 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: May 12, 2013 12:32:59 PM
I finished this last week and thought I'd share since I haven't posted anything on here in ages. I haven't got the pattern envelope to this pattern so I'm not sure when it's from and what company but it looks like a mailorder pattern and I assume it's a late 1940s design looking at it.
Anyways I made it from a black and white floral print cotton and added red buttons for a little splash of colour.

More details and pictures on my blog

I hope you likey!
Thank you.

2  My first wearable pullover!!!! in Knitting: Completed Projects by horrormaedchen on: January 22, 2013 08:46:27 AM
This is the first finished knitting project I ever made, that is wearable in public  Grin Shocked
I am so proud. I have made one other sweater before but it's a wear-at-home-project. It's too home-made looking, if you know what I mean.....
Anyways lets talk about this one. I can actually wear this outside for people to see.
It's from the same book I made this bolero from, that I recently posted here
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=419089.0
It was an easy knit, perfect as a first time project. It is knitted in one piece so no lining up pieces etc. (this is what went wrong with said first sweater...) and all you need to know is how to knit and purl.
I'm so please with this and wear it a lot at the moment as it's freezing here in the UK.
work in progress. The picture is the design in the book.

I think I'm ready for a project with a few more detail now.

3  Vintage inspired librarian chic in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: January 22, 2013 08:15:00 AM
Nothing wrong with a little retro librarian style, right?
I made this blouse and skirt independently from another and was surprised how well they go together.
The blouse is the same style as this one here
http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=416558.0
but with puffy short sleeves instead of long straight ones.
The skirt is a simple pencil skirt pattern for which I drafted a high scalloped waistband and optional straps. They make the skirt more versatile as it can be worn as a pencil skirt or pinafore this way.

5  Two toned bolero in Knitting: Completed Projects by horrormaedchen on: January 14, 2013 11:46:37 PM
I only just got back into knitting late last year and I am completely hooked this time. I used to previously start projects but never had the patience to actually finish them.
This is one of my recently knitted AND FINISHED!!!!! projects. Its a little two toned shrug/bolero. The pattern is from the book "Fitted knits" by Stefanie Japel. Its a great beginners project as all you need to know is how to knit and purl.

6  My New Years dress, Vintage repro Simplicity 1777 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: January 14, 2013 11:41:20 PM
My husband and I went to a casino themed night to celebrate the New Year which meant, I needed a new dress. I had Simplicity 1777 in my stash for a while and decided it was perfect for the occasion. It's a fairly quick sew, comes together relatively easily and looks great in either casual or evening fabric.
This is my version in purple and pink crepe back satin.

7  Cute little apron, Christmas gift idea with tutorial link in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: November 13, 2012 10:50:47 AM
I have been asked by my friend how to make an apron she had seen. She was thinking of making it for a friend for Christmas but since she is new to sewing she didn't know where to start.
I really liked the style she showed me and made one myself. I took some pictures along the way and made a little tutorial for her.
I thought why not share is. Its Christmas soon and maybe this helps one or two people make a personalised and handmade Christmas gift.

her inspiration

I decided to make a yellow and black version to use up some fabric scraps I had

finished project.

8  1930s/ 1940s inspired pussy bow blouse in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: November 06, 2012 02:17:34 AM

I made this a few weeks ago to extend my Autumn/Winter wardrobe with a few separates. I'm still working on it.
It's a simple fitted shape with two darts in the front and back, simple sleeves and a Peter Pan collar which I extended into two ties to tie into a nice pussy bow detail.

I am very happy with the finished result and love how vintage it looks in that brown cotton print.
I also made the trousers (I am not completely happy with them so no proper pictures and details until I am happy with them) and the beret (made from trouser scraps)
I hope you likey.

9  Red lace dress in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by horrormaedchen on: November 01, 2012 12:52:38 PM

I finished this dress today and I am so thrilled with it, I had to share it straight away.
The bodice is a princess line strapless bodice pattern and I drafted the sheer front and back yoke to add extra detail. The skirt is a slight A-line shape pleated in the front and back where the skirt hits the front and back bodice seams. I also made self binding for the top yoke from the red satin layered underneath the lace. The dress is also fully lined.
The dress is finished off with a black organza ribbon belt with little lace flowers cut from scraps. I also had scraps of the same lace in black from a dress I made earlier this year and cut flowers from that to add to the belt as well as two black velvet ribbon bows.
Now I just need an occasion to wear it. I am sure the upcoming holiday season will provide that.

A few more pictures here http://horrormaedchen.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/is-it-christmas-yet.html
I hope you like it as much as I do. Thanks for reading/looking.
