41  Faux mercury glass decorative jar - link to tutorial in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by phreed83 on: November 15, 2008 03:05:05 PM
I went to Target the other day and loved all their silvered glass Christmas stuff, but not the price. I thought I could probably do it myself for a lot less -- the result was not perfect, but looks pretty good if I do say so myself.

I found a similar jar -- a vintage candy jar with a lid at an estate sale for $2 and bought a can of extra-smooth Brilliant Silver spray paint and painted the inside. Here's a pic -- if you want complete instructions, check it out here -  http://www.ehow.com/how_4600986_glass-jars-inexpensive-home-decor.html

42  Ami-style candycane ornament & friends in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by phreed83 on: November 11, 2008 01:51:17 PM

Hi -- I've been a lurker for a while and finally felt crafty enough to join your ranks. I just started crocheting a few weeks ago and have so far turned out these little guys - check out the link above- (plus a cupcake and ghost that have found their way to my daughter's friends).
Roxycraft's Gabu alien was my first, followed by the ninja, which I found on LiveJournal at http://deliriousnanite.livejournal.com/12967.html(and just changed the bunny ears to a tie at the side) the Octopus (sadly more of a Heptipus as he only has 7 legs) and flat bunny are from Lion's Brand free patterns - can't remember where I found the strawberry with the attitude problem.  The candy cane I found with an excellent video tutorial at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qAmK0TzcQrM - it's just 2 separate curliques twisted together with a pipe cleaner in the center for shaping purposes -- I added the face so he'd fit in with the rest of the crew.
Anyone have any advice - or a good tutorial link - for joining pieces together with slip stitch along the edges -- the bunny gave me the hardest time -- I gave up and sewed him together.
