1  Re: Mini 13 Days of Halloween Gallery in The Swap Gallery by deadsweaters on: October 14, 2013 08:27:25 PM

Day 13 Sad
3 skulls and a Halloween Jar of Whimsies!

Thank you so much for swapping with me deadsweaters!

OH NO!!  I knew the jar wouldn't make it!  As I'm sure you saw glue on the jar...lol...the skeletons were attached to the jar.

I think hot glue would have been a better choice than super glue.  Smiley

2  Halloween advent calendar. in Halloween Decor and Parties by deadsweaters on: October 12, 2013 05:35:08 PM
My partner in the mini Halloween swap wanted an advent calendar for Halloween.  So I made one!!

The owl and his pouches are made out of felt.  I pressed my own fabric buttons and stamped the numbers on.  I used a skull and cross bones for Halloween!

3  spooky shadowbox. in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by deadsweaters on: October 12, 2013 05:28:48 PM
I decided to make a shadowbox for one of the days of the mini Halloween swap.
It's the first one I've ever made.

I sculpted the tree out of sculpey and used coconut bedding for the ground.

I love excuses to use those little viles/bottles!!

4  Elegant spider hoopla. in Completed Projects by deadsweaters on: October 12, 2013 05:22:58 PM
I've always wanted to make a spider web hoopla, so I decided to make one for my partner in the mini 13 days of Halloween swap.

I made the spider out of wire and beads.  All pearls except for the spiders back...I found a fantastic elegant charm that just fit perfectly.

I wanted to put something on the actual hoop, so I put some 'sugar' spiders and nests on it.  The little spiders are made of two pearls and thin wire.

The nests are little pearls wrapped up in bits of lace pulled tight.

I had a hard time giving this away, but I plan to make more!

Thanks for looking!

5  Owls, Owls, OWLS! Alive and undead! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by deadsweaters on: October 03, 2013 12:36:33 AM
For the last round of the sweat shop swap, I offered skele-owls!!  I have a bit of an obsession with skelanimals in general, so these were a lot of fun to make!!

They are 100% felt and a little over 6" tall.  I chose the colors after finding out what colors all of my partners preferred.  I loved these little guys, they were all so unique due to the fact that I don't really make these off a pattern.  I made a pattern for the owl shape, but I leave the rest to free hand to give each one a personality of their own.

One of my partners wanted an owl for her niece....non-skeleton of course and I remember "NO PINK!" being a huge factor. hehe. Smiley
So I made a fully alive owl for the little one...which I think turned out to be my favorite! (shh...don't tell the undead! eek!)  I called her miss pretty while she was staying here.

Luckily, they were all very kind to each other before they made their way to six different parts of North America!  The skeles didn't even make fun of miss pretty for looking different.  So wise and sweet! Smiley

Thanks for looking! Smiley <3

6  Look! It's a shooting star.......NO..WAIT!...It's the DOCTOR! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by deadsweaters on: October 03, 2013 12:24:23 AM
Hii!

I wanted to share a little jewelry project I did.

It's completely sculpted out of Sculpey clay.  I painted it with acrylic paint and gave it a coat of crystal clear.  I couldn't get a picture of the moon that didn't look like a snow white brick. lol.

Thanks for looking! Smiley <3

7  Sulley (and Mike Wazowski, of course. :)) in Dessert by deadsweaters on: October 03, 2013 12:18:41 AM
I love Monsters Inc.!!  Well, really, I love monsters in general.  When I was pregnant with my son, I went monster crazy for him.  Monster clothes, monster toys, everything monster/baby I could get my hands on.  So, it's no surprise to me that he loves Monsters Inc. too!  I got him a big Sulley plush that he wrestles with, sleeps on, and hugs.  At times, when he wouldn't take his bottle from his dad or I, we would put the bottle in between Sulley's hands and pretend that he was giving him the bottle, and he would take it!

With that being said, we did his first birthday all Monsters Inc.!  I wanted to make him a cake unlike any other cake(the first one has got to be special!).  So I made Sulley!  This is the second cake I've ever made.

Everything is icing, except for the teeth, which are pieces of white chocolate that I cut.  The cake itself is a three layer chocolate cake.  I cut out his shape and used the pieces that I cut off to make his nose and eyebrows more 3D.  They turned out to be the perfect shapes!

This cake was rather large, but I still can't believe how long it took to do the icing work.  I wanted it to look like fur, so I individually dabbed the icing on.  One and half hours later, and my hand was sore!

After I finished Sulley, it just didn't feel right.  I felt like he was missing something(besides his horns! lol.).  And then it hit me!  How dare you make sulley without mike waszowski!!!?  So last minute, I made a whole slew of mikes to make up for my forgetting him in the first place.

Here's one before he was given a mouth.

And here is the finished products!

I have to admit, I used store bought icing....BUT...I mixed all the colors myself with white icing and dye.  I'm a perfectionist and if nothing else was going to turn out right, AT LEAST THE COLORS WOULD BE RIGHT, I TELL YOU!! Smiley

The cake was a success along with the whole day.  It was hard to watch it get destroyed!  lol...but the color of the icing looked great on my little blue eyed dream!!

Thanks for checking out my cake!! Smiley

8  Tobias the Nevernude! in Completed Projects by deadsweaters on: October 02, 2013 11:21:44 PM
I made this hoopla for my partner in the Arrested Development swap!  When I started it, it was just going to be a giant "I blue myself" Tobias face.

Buuuutttt.......

I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!  I had to add his cut-offs...I mean, he would never go anywhere without them, right?  Not even on a hoopla!  Smiley
I did some repurposing of a pair of my sons 6m size jeans.  He's a little over a year now, so he didn't mind.  The face is all made out of felt, except for his moustache with is made out of a piece of fun fur.

Thanks for looking!! <3

9  Buster Bluth. IM A MONSTER!!!! in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by deadsweaters on: October 02, 2013 11:11:01 PM
Hii all!

For the most recent Arrested Development swap, my partner said she loved Buster the most.  So, I decided to try something that I have never done before, and make a poppet!!  I've always been a fan of poppets, but with all the amazing poppet creations on craftster, I was a little intimidated.  I decided to go for it, and was very pleased with the results!

Here he is!!

I decided to go with army buster post loose seal attack!

The hook was my favorite part!  I work in a hardware store and not only do I get a lot of inspiration from there, I get supplies too!!

I needle felted his hair onto his head and decided to give him a cartoon-ish face.

I found the perfect army print for a little guys outfit.  The clothes were NOT easy to make!!  I make clothes for myself so I thought it would be easy-peasy, but making tiny clothes is not the same.  I made the jacket only to find out that the front would not close.  TOO SMALL!!!  Thankfully, I was able to save it by adding a few pieces and I was super stoked for how the shoes turned out!  I was running myself ragged looking for tiny boots, but I think making little felt boots worked out just fine.

So there you have it!  This has opened me up to a new craft, and I want to make more. MOOOREEE!!!! Smiley
Thanks for looking!

10  Re: Mini 13 Days of Halloween Gallery in The Swap Gallery by deadsweaters on: September 24, 2013 07:41:26 PM
First, a photo of the whole lot from lindyv321!

Second, I must show the adorable card she sent!  It's a cut out skeleton.  This will be on the wall in my room, year round, more than likely.  So cute!

Lindy only labeled the Day 1 item, so I get to pick what to open each day!  AWESOME! Smiley

Day 1.
I got a 3D wooden tree!  I've always loved these, but have never gotten one.  It's black and glittery and she sent ornaments and garland to decorate it.

I wanted to get a close up of the little ornaments which I believe she made, because I love them so much!

The raven kills me, it's so cute!

Day 2.
This banner is awesome!  I don't do many paper crafts, but this makes me want to.  I have the perfect place to hang this over the cabinets in my kitchen!

Day 3.
Well, it's 5:30am on day 3, and I can't sleep...SO I COULDN'T HELP MYSELF!!!  Somehow, I opened the PERFECT package for insomnia!  An awesome anatomy book with some great stock images, some adorable cardboard decorative shapes, a science fiction magazine cut out (which is going on my inspiration wall as soon as I finish posting), and the BEST THING EVER!  A book of zombie feltie patterns!!!  I've already flipped through it, and I want to make them all! Smiley

Day 4.
This is possibly the most awesome thing I have ever seen!!!  I got a totally amazing shrine!!!  I'm so glad this survived shipping!!!  It's my favorite Halloween thing that I have at the moment!

Every little room is so perfect!  I love the skeleton guy...and I adore the gargoyle bead!!

oh and the angry women on the bottom are great!
She also sent a little shrine kit....with a skeleton which I already put together!!

Day 5.
A present for my little man!!!  It was wrapped up so lovely.

A beautiful little no sew blanket!  Orange on one side, black on the other.  He loves it, btw!

Day 6.
I got some great spooky embellishments, a little pumpkin clothespin, a super cute necklace, and some beautiful pumpkin earrings, which I am wearing right now!  There was a pumpkin candle in the box as extra, so I pulled that out too!  I wanted my house to smell delicious!  Smiley

Here's the necklace and earrings a little closer....so wonderful!

Day 7.
Today, I got a little Halloween sign, a BOO tiny clothespin, and a super adorable key chain!!!

The bat is so cute, I can't stand it! Smiley

I can't wait to put it to use!  I love everything so much, so far!!  I can only imagine what's in store for the next six days!!!! >-<

Day 8.
I found some amazing bottles for 1000 year old gargoyle drool and bottled ghosts!!  So awesome!

Day 9.
Some adorable supplies to make delicious Halloween goodies!!! Smiley

Day 10.
The most beautiful wrap bracelets ever!!

I can't take them off!

The caldron is my favorite part.
Also, there was an adorable skeleton necklace, two squishy rats, and a little spider clothespin!!

Day 11.
I found some super cute trim/ribbon, some awesome bone erasers(which I collect funny shaped erasers! win!), and a beautifully put together little book!

Here's the inside:

It looks so good next to the shrine...and I cannot get enough of those little dapper gentleman skeletons!!  They are just the best.

Day 12.
I got a great little lot of things!!  Some Halloween dcor tape, super cute stickers, and fun staches!!!  Which is too great, because I have an obsession with putting sticker mustaches on my son, or drawing a mustache on my finger and taking pictures with it under his nose...SO THIS IS PERFECT!! Smiley

Some awesome zombies were sent along with the package, which are already hanging up in my window, which perfectly enough, is zombie themed!

and my favorite part are these holographic pictures.  I've always wanted some of these, but have never gotten them, mostly because I can never find one that is actually more spooky than corny...but these are definitely spooky and not corny at all!!!  They are going straight on the wall!  (and staying up year round like most of these awesome things Lindy has graced me with! Smiley)

Bonafide:

HORRIFIED!:

I can't believe tomorrow is the last day!  I'm not sad....I'm not sad.....errrr....."mini -we can't get enough 13 days of Halloween - December edition", anyone?Huh  Haha.

Day 13.
For the last day, I received a beautiful hoopla!

and some awesome double sided postcard type things.  Smiley

other side:

The end is bittersweet, but I love everything so much.  THANK YOU, LINDY!!!  Can't wait for next year!.  <3
