1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Homemade Yarn Bobbins (Large Images) on: January 05, 2009 06:57:25 PM
In the process of trying to find some way to make my yarn unstealable by my little Yorkie I came across yarn bobbins. I liked how they looked and worked but I didn't really want to pay $10-$20 for a single wood one. Instead, I've come up with my own by attaching little wooden wheels available at Michael's to thick 6 inch long wooden dowels. I thought I'd be clever and try to glue them with Gorilla Glue and then nail them. *Big mistake.* The wood I'm using is some sort of hard wood and when it's treated with Gorilla Glue it warps nails like crazy. None the less, I really really like what I came up with and I'm going to make more. I think I'm going to wood fill them and stain them a nice dark brown since I like it better than the natural wood color. I think I'm going to make more with bigger wheels on the end and at a length of about 5 inches because six is just long enough to be slightly awkward. And now....

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Giant pink granny square blanket (big pics) on: November 19, 2008 08:22:19 PM
I finished a blanket a couple weeks ago I thought I should share. It's basically a giant granny square edged with a couple rows of single and double crochet. I made it for a friend for Christmas but now that it's left my house I kind of miss it. I think I'm going to have to make myself one. It's made out of Patons SWS Natural Geranium for the center and Patons SWS Natural Berry for the border.

(Sorry this one is kinda fuzzy)
